Crispin Burton and Dilettante Winners Of Casio Sessions 2024
Crispin Burton and Dilettante (Francesca Pidgeon) were named the winners of the Casio Sessions competition, held on Wednesday, 4th September at Ninety One Living Room, a jazz bar in Brick Lane. Fifteen singer-songwriters performed their original compositions on Casio’s flagship digital piano, competing for the top prize: a Casio PX-S7000 digital piano worth £2,249 and a mastering studio session, with their winning song pressed onto 250 vinyl records, courtesy of Breed Media.
The competition, in its second year, received a large number of entries, making the selection of the finalists a challenge. Judges Neil Evans (Head of EMI at Casio), Dan Henry (Field Sales Manager at Casio), Emsy Petersen (EMI Marketing Specialist), and Lisa Edwards (Head of Production at Breed Media) were impressed by the level of talent, leading to the decision to split the prize between two winners for the second year in a row.
Crispin Burton won with his song “If You Hear My Voice,” praised for his rich vocals and technical piano skills. Dilettante’s performance of “I’m In Love With Falling In Love” stood out for its vocal range and dynamic, swinging style.
Both winners will receive the PX-S7000 piano, a mastering session, and 250 vinyl pressings of their music. All finalists will also receive professional photography and videography from the event.
Previous winners, May Payne and Stefan Mahendra, have since released EPs and toured the UK, returning to perform new songs at this year’s final.
