SD9902 Analog Synths Disk
hi,
My genuine SD9902 Yamaha R&D Disk has become corrupted. Has anyone got an image of this? I think i may have a backup somewhere but i can't lay my hands on it at the moment.

Re: Aftertouch repair
hi,
thanks
will tidy up and take up the offer to covert it to pdf.
The fci seems to take two stabs (two pointy teeth) at getting a purchase on the strip and maybe a small stapler could be used to jump bad traces where the strip has been folded over.

Re: SY99 Capacitor list/ Cap Map
Yes i noticed there lots of bipolar 10uf around the opamps and two big 47uf bipolar near the 4556, which i assume is the headphone op amp. I wonder why this is so.

Re: SY99 Capacitor list/ Cap Map
newer caps are so much smaller you can comfortably increase voltage ratings and it still fit. plus the yamaha has generous lead spacing. Its quite easy to unsolder with a 40w iron
I think the unbranded 10uf around the op amps should be first to go

Favourite Preset Disks
Right now, my favourite disk is from Metra Sounds by Peter Gorges. Its mainly AFM presets and i prefer this to AWM presets, although i don't mind AFM+AWM. Peter Gorges did some great sounds for the D50 too.

Re: SY99 Capacitor list/ Cap Map
Its also worth observing there are a real mix back of caps in the Sy99, in terms of brand and quality. Elna for the big caps, Nichicon's for the mid caps and then some no-name for most of the 10uf caps.

Re: SY99 Capacitor list/ Cap Map
The service manual for the SY99 does not cover the regular caps only some of the larger ones eg. 220uf. No idea why, given the document is otherwise quite comprehensive.
