Re: New 2019 Fantom

I was ready to pull the trigger on the Roland until i realised that user samples cannot be mapped across the key range to make patches that use user samples/wav's. Yes, the lack of multisamples support is a shame. On the Juno-DS that feature was added later with an OS update. So why isn't it there ...

Re: Behringer goes on the offensive!

Behringer is not a benefactor of humanity, he's not a Robin Hood who does favours to poor musicians, he's not a victim of haters, sours or idiots, he's a tough businessman, and probably not the most ethical one with regards to IP infringement.

Re: Would you purchase a Korg Kronos Rack version?

Perhaps the appearance of the Behringer Model D indicates that opinions might be about to change? It's not a rack, it's a Eurorack, which is quite different. Hence its f@¤§!#g MIDI ports on its front panel http://yelims2.free.fr/Demons/Demon25.gif Btw, I *really* don't understand that craze for Eur...

Re: Would you purchase a Korg Kronos Rack version?

Although that idea sounds interesting, it's a bit like closing the barn door after the horse is out. I do not believe Korg would issue a Kronos Rack. There was a discussion about that on the Korg forum 8 years ago. My wish : a rackmount Kronos, with real time controllers and which can be fully edite...

it's not a "race car" but a racing car

Re: While we are all contemplating the Mysteries of the Universe - as well as our Boards . . .

Shouldn't a race car driver be called a race carist?

N.B. in French, un cariste = a worker whose job is to operate a forklift (un chariot élévateur)

I can imagine forklift races in warehouses...

So, what now?

In some way the amount of that fine will be passed on in the wholesale prices, so either the consumers will have to pay more or the retailers will have to lower their margins...

Re: Where is the Soft Pedal for Piano Performances?

According to the MIDI specification, a device should respond to CC#67 ("soft pedal on/off") by lowering the volume. That's it. Everything else is up to the maker of the synth or DP. Many synths don't even comply with that simple spec (which seems useless anyway if it does nothing else than lowering ...

Re: Where is the Soft Pedal for Piano Performances?

Soft pedal? Forget about it! ____ Do you know the use of the una corda pedal can damage your piano? 8O At least if you have a grand piano. That pedal shifts the whole keyboard, as you explained, so that the hammers strike only two strings out of three, hence its name meaning 'one string' (...

It's always good to have free software, so I'll download it.

For the time being I keep using lilypond, now that I have overcome its learning curve.

Re: Curious about the FS1R . . . . .

They are able to import old DX files through their web-based convertor but they sometimes omit some modulation data in that process, so it isn't quite 100%. I really don't understand why Yama didn't implement a DX7 patch converter on board the Montage/MODX. On the face of it the so-called FM-X engi...

Features have been added to the original Wave, but from the specs it appears its synth engine has been simplified (A1-ish). E.g. only one LFO !
