Re: While we are all contemplating the Mysteries of the Universe - as well as our Boards . . .

Shouldn't a race car driver be called a race carist?

N.B. in French, un cariste = a worker whose job is to operate a forklift (un chariot élévateur)

I can imagine forklift races in warehouses...

Re: Ooops! Guitar maker Fender fined £4.5m for price fixing in UK

So, what now?

In some way the amount of that fine will be passed on in the wholesale prices, so either the consumers will have to pay more or the retailers will have to lower their margins...

Re: Where is the Soft Pedal for Piano Performances?

According to the MIDI specification, a device should respond to CC#67 ("soft pedal on/off") by lowering the volume. That's it. Everything else is up to the maker of the synth or DP. Many synths don't even comply with that simple spec (which seems useless anyway if it does nothing else than lowering ...

Re: Where is the Soft Pedal for Piano Performances?

Soft pedal? Forget about it! ____ Do you know the use of the una corda pedal can damage your piano? 8O At least if you have a grand piano. That pedal shifts the whole keyboard, as you explained, so that the hammers strike only two strings out of three, hence its name meaning 'one string' (...

Re: Steinberg Release A FREE Version Of Dorico! NAMM 2020

It's always good to have free software, so I'll download it.

For the time being I keep using lilypond, now that I have overcome its learning curve.

Re: Curious about the FS1R . . . . .

They are able to import old DX files through their web-based convertor but they sometimes omit some modulation data in that process, so it isn't quite 100%. I really don't understand why Yama didn't implement a DX7 patch converter on board the Montage/MODX. On the face of it the so-called FM-X engi...

Re: Nord Wave 2

Features have been added to the original Wave, but from the specs it appears its synth engine has been simplified (A1-ish). E.g. only one LFO !

Re: KORG Wavestate Demo Video

about Wave Sequencing 2.0 With the Wavestation, each step of a Wave Sequence had a duration, a sample, and a pitch. This created ear-catching patterns–but the patterns repeated the same way, over and over. What if they could evolve in organic, unexpected ways, instead of just repeating? Wave Sequenc...

I'm French, so I guess I can tease my fellow countrymen  His accent is not different from an ordinary French accent, but it's stronger than average.
