Re: Yamaha DX100 problem with starting

I have a DX7 but some of the most common issues with these vintage synths are the same across models and manufacturers and by that, I mean Power Supply (PS) issues. It is actually amazing that the Electrolytic Capacitors (CAPS) used in these old synths have lasted as long as they have. That is the f...

Re: DX7 Supplemental Booklets Online Archive

Thanks DanFor for your efforts to bring these materials back to the light of day. It has been great working with you and others to accomplish this goal. At least one contributor (Clyde) from the Richmond, VA area is no longer with us. But the legacy of our efforts live on.

Re: DX7 Supplemental Booklets Online Archive

Andy, I am glad you found 21 & 22 useful. I too have a WX7 and a TX81Z as well as my DX7 MKI and an FB-01. So, I would really love to get my hands on voice patch sysex, or even audio files since I still have a cassette interface. Even printed out versions would work for me and after entering the...

Sockmonkey,

If you would be so kind as to send them to me via email, I will upload them to the same online storage where the others currently reside, and I will update the links adding links to these new ones.

I will try to send you a private message with my email address.

Thanks,

E! for DX7 MIDI SYSEX Format details NEEDED

I sent a copy of the MIDI Spec from GMR for the E! for DX7 (Mark I) card to Jon Morgan of DX Manager fame. He replied that it is incomplete and he has tried to add the capability to transmit edited MIDI to a DX7 with E! card with no success. The correct data format to send patch data is not included...

E! for DX7 MIDI Spec

For many with a DX7 equipped with an E! board, the MIDI spec for the E! has been elusive at best. Here goes: ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- GREY MATTER RESPONSE E! FOR THE DX7 MIDI IMPLEMENTATION ---------------------------------------------------------...

Re: Replacement screws for DX-21?

Not sure exactly which screws you need but if not mistaken, I believe you need to be looking for Metric screws as opposed to American Standard sizes.

Re: Original DX7 with Grey Matter E! stopped working? Read here

I own a DX7 with an E! board. I have another earlier version E! board waiting for a DX7 to place it in but the one I have installed is a later version and seems to be of better quality than the other earlier E! board. The only issue I have had with mine is that I had to replace the DX7 battery and t...

Just purchased these from your site. I look forward to checking out your programming and of course playing the patches on my DX7 with E! Card.

Re: Help needed connecting DX7 to Pc

I will second the Focusrite recommendation. I have a 1st generation 18i20 which has quite a few more channels than the 4i4 but the latter should do just fine. One thing I must commend Focusrite for is providing updated drivers as newer OS versions continue to come out. I was using Win 7 when I bough...

Re: Yamaha DX7 II FD - Sudden reset

Marek, My DX7 is a MKI however my somewhat extensive experience with old electronics not limited to synths tells me that the first place I would look is at the power supply. Specifically, the electrolytic capacitors in that power supply. Electrolytic capacitors are like hard disk drive. It is not IF...
