Re: ew410

Yes, that is how the sustain works on the PSR-EW410-- it affects only the right side of the split, and does not sustain the voice on the left side of the split.

Re: Fade out on DGX-660 synth voices

Unfortunately, the DGX models are only XGlite-compatible, not fully XG-compatible, and XGlite doesn't respond to Decay parameter changes the way XG does; it responds only to Attack and Release parameter changes as far as the amplitude envelope is concerned. Also, most of the XGlite-compatible models...

Welcome, @Bender29! When you say "virtual acoustic synthesis," do you have any favorite programs for that?

Re: MIDI Volume Control - MX88

Each of the 16 MIDI channels has its own volume control, which is set using CC #7. And of course, each Note On event has a velocity value that also affects that note's volume. So if you want to reduce the volume of a particular channel without having to modify the velocity of every single Note On ev...

Re: MODX USB driver Windows 10 Ardour

I'm not familiar with Mixbus, and don't think I'd heard of Ardour before this thread. But if you're looking for a free DAW that's available for Windows, macOS, and Linux, and that isn't just a cut-down "starter's version" or crippled "demo version" of the full-featured versions, you might consider W...

Re: MODX USB driver Windows 10 Ardour

Well, AFAIK the MODX should be class-compliant, so it shouldn't need either the Yamaha USB-MIDI driver or the Steinberg USB audio/MIDI driver. Have you tried using it with Ardour without either of those drivers? Note that the Steinberg driver may have problems if there are other ASIO drivers install...

Re: Any Studio one users? My MODX show as 8 input 2 output there

After looking at the MODX manual and reading your original post, I believe that Studio One is perfectly correct-- there is no mistake in what it's showing you. It's all a matter of perspective. The MODX can output 10 audio channels, and can receive 4 audio channels as input-- so from the perspective...

Re: Yamaha MX61 & JamKazam

Okay, I'll look at my MX49BK and Windows 10 computer later tonight. What I can say right now is that IIRC another member had a similar sort of issue in Windows 10 just a week or so ago, but it was with a PSR-EW410 (which also uses the Steinberg driver for USB audio) and a DAW. The way that member re...

Re: Yamaha MX61 & JamKazam

I think you can tell from the serial number label on the keyboard whether it's an older MX (which doesn't have the built-in USB audio interface) or a newer MX (which does). Basically, the newer MX models come in three different colors, so the model name on the label has two letters at the end to ind...

Re: Connect MODX 7 via USB to PSR 670

You can use a USB cable to connect two devices together, but one of them needs to be a USB host. Neither the MODX7 nor the PSR-S670 can act as a USB host, so you'll need to connect them using an interface that can, such as the Kenton MIDI USB Host, or the Miditech USB MIDI Host, or the Midiplus USB ...

Re: Goodbye to my beloved DGX660

I also get attached to my keyboards, so you're not alone in that. By the way, I was looking at the DGX-660 manual the other day and noticed that it can do portamento, which I hadn't realized. It really is an impressive instrument, despite being only XGlite compatible and limited to only two variatio...

Re: USB-MIDI Converters (Please kindly note that the item cannot be used for Yamaha device)

In theory, any USB-MIDI interface should ideally work with any brand of keyboard. But in practice, the inexpensive USB-MIDI interfaces that flood online marketplaces can vary a good bit as to the reliability of their data conversion and transmission. Furthermore, older keyboards may have had MIDI im...
