Re: PSR-E423 new owner CD questions

I wish they'd upload the contents of the CDs to their servers and then let you download them, but they don't. It looks like the 70 songs on the CD might be the same ones that were on the PSR-E403's CD, in which case the song books would probably also be the same. The Music Database is sort of like a...

Re: TG77 Midi Output is always active ?

The MTC signals might depend on whether the device is set to Internal Clock or External Clock, and might be something that can be filtered even if the Internal Clock is being used.

Re: TG77 Midi Output is always active ?

Yes, if you monitor the MIDI output of many keyboards and other devices you'll often see two different types of messages-- the Timing Clock (F8), which is sent at fairly steady and constant intervals as determined by settings such as the Tempo and PPQN, and which is basically like the ticking of a c...

Re: PSR-E423 new owner CD questions

I was in a similar boat when I bought a secondhand YPT-400, another name for the PSR-E403. I was able to order a replacement CD from yamaha24x7.com for about $15. At that time-- maybe 4 or 5 years ago-- it was possible to search their site and order parts online, including replacement manuals or CDs...

Re: Hi there

Yes, a belated welcome from me as well. That PSR-730 may be a bit old, but if it's in good shape it's not a bad bit of kit-- certainly more advanced than my PSR-E models. :)

The best part of the video comes at about 2:13... where the cat goes cruising by in a little flying car that has a two-manual keyboard as its dash control. (Y)

Re: Connect MIDI-Organ-Pedal to Clavinova CLP-440

I've used Cubase to create a MIDI song file that simply sets the Bank Select MSB/LSB and Program Change for channel 1. If it works as intended, when you select the "song" it should select the CLP-440's "Pipe Organ" voice on channel 1, which I'm assuming is the channel that the pedal's MIDI is playin...

Re: Casio fined £3.7 million for breaking competition law!

I know, I thought this sort of thing was pretty common for most keyboard manufacturers? I guess as long as the store has paid the manufacturer for the stock, they should be able to vary their profit by charging as much or as little as they want, but that would make it difficult for the consumer beca...

Re: Connect MIDI-Organ-Pedal to Clavinova CLP-440

Regarding your second question, I've never used MIDI THRU so I might be wrong, but I thought MIDI THRU was more like MIDI OUT than MIDI IN? In other words, the device (in this case, CLP-440) can respond to whichever portions (channels, note ranges, types of messages) of the MIDI IN signal are desire...

Re: Connect MIDI-Organ-Pedal to Clavinova CLP-440

It sounds like your first setup was working fine other than the voice, so I would suggest going back to that. The problem of the voice is a common one when sending MIDI from one device to another. It occurs because there is no voice being selected by the sending device, hence the receiving device is...

Re: Editing MIDI files for use on MX49

Cubase should let you save the changes, but I don't have access to my Cubase right now so I can't tell you what steps (menu selections) to use-- although it should be described in the manual, which is admittedly pretty large. There are also other DAWs which come in Mac-compatible versions, such as C...

Re: DGX 660 & Ensoniq SD-1

Yes, I do the same thing with my PSR-E models on my computer-- or rather, I did until the hard drive on my computer failed. It's a great way to increase the number and types of sounds you can play with your keyboard even if your keyboard doesn't have the ability to import new sounds. :)

Re: DGX 660 & Ensoniq SD-1

Yes, I think that should work. When you say "get more Sounds to dgx," I assume you're talking about using the DGX-660 as a MIDI keyboard controller to play the sounds on the Ensoniq?

Re: ISSUES with eLicenser (CUBASE) what the heck is this

A year or so ago I had an issue with Cubase freezing, and it turned out to be a problem with the Steinberg USB audio driver that was related to a Windows update. I don't remember the details, but I seem to recall that I didn't solve the problem until I was trying to do something in a different progr...

Re: SOS I NEED HELP

Why do you think that "Synth 1984" is supposed to be the Oberheim sound for "Jump"? I'm not suggesting that it isn't-- remember that I don't have a Genos and am not familiar with its voice list-- I'm just curious if you read or were told that "Synth 1984" is the voice for "Jump," and if so what was ...
