Re: Hi, from Gustavo Woltmann

Welcome, Gustavo! Are you a gigging guitarist? I'm wondering if or how Covid has impacted your music making.

Re: A "heads up" to Mac users.

I haven't read any of the comments section, but my main takeaway from the article itself is the word "yet"-- there's no known way to conduct a hack remotely "yet"-- which leaves open the possibility that someday a remote hack might be possible. I guess they use language like that because, after all,...

Re: Hi I’m Jack from Shoreline WA.

Welcome, Jack! I'm not a guitar player, so I can't offer any guidance there, but we have quite a few guitarists here who might be able to help with guitar-related questions. :)

Re: Using USB TO HOST and Classical 5 pin midi in out simultaneously in Yamaha CP4

According to the information on page 45 of the Owner's Manual, you can use either the MIDI IN/OUT ports or the USB TO HOST port for transmitting and receiving MIDI data, but not both at the same time: Using with Other MIDI Devices Using standard MIDI cables (sold separately), you can connect other M...

Re: USB-MIDI Converters (Please kindly note that the item cannot be used for Yamaha device)

Someone recently reported back that the iConnectivity mio USB-MIDI adapter that I'd tentatively recommended to try is working perfectly with their Yamaha keyboard, so it seems like a reliable one to buy, and it's not too expensive.

Re: MX88 layering key assign

The MX models have a lot of capabilities-- although not as many as their bigger siblings (Motif, MOXF, and MODX)-- but you need to use external software to unlock their full capabilities. The now-free Vycro MX software lets you program performances using the 16 parts, whereas the not-free software f...

Re: Tyros 5 loud keys but only when couple of keys are played at a fast pace.

The only thing I know to do is open up the keyboard, remove the keys assembly, and clean the contacts and blow out any dust, but I have no experience with that and I've heard you need to e very careful about what you use to clean the contacts or you'll ruin them. You might also want to put lubricant...

Re: DGX 660

If you want to record your DGX in REAPER as you're playing it, you can record up to 3 channels at once-- channel 1 (the Main Voice), channel 2 (the Dual Voice, if you've turned it on), and channel 3 (the Split Voice, if you've turned it on). Those are the MIDI Out channels that the DGX uses for thos...

Re: Free Software To Get You Started

You actually do need to create a MIDI song file first, after which you can use JoSoSoft's "Midi 2 Style" program to create a style file from the MIDI song file. I have no familiarity with WinJammer, so I don't know what its capabilities and shortcomings are. You might want to read up on how a Yamaha...

Re: DGX 660

Getting used to a DAW if you've never used one before can be a hurdle, and there are so many DAWs and audio recording apps out there that it can be bewildering just trying to pick one-- but many DAWs have video tutorials online, which should help.

Re: DGX 660

I know exactly what you mean, because my PSR-E models have a similar built-in 6-track song recorder. There's no onboard function for compressing 2 or more of the existing tracks down to a single track, thereby freeing up 1 or more tracks for recording additional parts. Your best solution is to use t...

Just for the record-- because sooner or later someone else is sure to have the same issue-- which type did you have to convert the files to?

Re: Yamaha PSR E-453 Lesson function

I think there was a free utility I'd found a few years ago, but I have a different computer now and can't find it any more. There is an inexpensive utility called GNMIDFMT that can convert between the three types of standard MIDI files. It looks like it has a file list view that shows the type for e...

Re: "MODX" not an Option in Cubase VST Audio System

But, after watching some Youtube videos and reading setup instructions, I noticed that people have "MODX" listed as an ASIO driver under "VST Audio System", but I do not, I have been using "Steinberg USB ASIO". "Steinberg USB Audio" is the correct driver. I wonder if the other people have somehow r...
