Re: Help using two VL boards in an MU100R

This sounds like a question that Rudy at the VL-Wizard site could answer. You might try posting on the Forum over there to see if he knows how to do what you are proposing. I haven't tried it yet myself, I've been working on other things lately.

Re: A MU128 or MU2000 with 2 PLG-100 ou 150-VL

Hi Sloanefreeman, If you put two VL cards in the MU100R it will give you two-note polyphony using the same voice patch, like playing two keys on the keyboard at the same time. For three voices, one VL70m and two PLG cards, you will have to resort to sysex commands to separate the two VL cards. The M...

Re: A MU128 or MU2000 with 2 PLG-100 ou 150-VL

OK... To clarify, the MU128/1000/2000 all default to using both VL cards on one channel as a 2-note polyphony instrument. You might be able to re-assign the channel setting for each card separately using a sysex command, so you can use both cards with different patches selected on each. I don't know...

Re: A MU128 or MU2000 with 2 PLG-100 ou 150-VL

Hi Xavier-Joseph, I have an MU2000ex which has (2) PLG150-VL cards in it. First, get either an MU1000 or an MU2000 since they have a USB interface, the MU128 only has the older midi cable connections and can really only address 32 channels with two sets of midi cables where the USB interface can acc...

Re: VL randomness... very cool

Physical modelers like the VL cards have that feature, usually it comes in via the breath controller. My Technics SX-WSA1 also has features like that built into the model, every single note comes out slightly different giving it a human feel.

Re: Yamaha MU1000 LCD unit

As an Engineer, I would say go for it! Companies re-use components all the time, especially custom ones like the MU displays. If it was me, I'd have already done it. I have an MU2000ex which needs a new SmartCard reader.

Re: MU100R Floppy Disks or data files

I dug around a little bit and I found the downloads for the "Hello Music 100R" package on the Yamaha Japan site here: http://download.yamaha.com/search/product/?language=ja&site=jp.yamaha.com&category_id=16244&product_id=1041614 You can click on each one of the six download items, then go down to th...

Re: Help with Recreating this Sound

It's always extremely difficult to match an existing sound with a programmable synth. Using a Motif, you would have to put together a closely matched set of recordings, one recording for each of the different velocity ranges you intend to program in, and multiple sets if you want a really wide pitch...

Re: Help with Recreating this Sound

Uhmmmm, Is this close? It's an AN1X distortion guitar lead. The Pitch Bend controller is a lot of the performance. He describes how he set up the patch way down in the comments (copied below). The patch is compared to Jens Johansson in the comments too. (I tried to embed the video, but I'm not sure ...

Re: So this is why the VL1 had two engines

You really are digging for data, aren't you. I think the VL engine already does the cross fading you mentioned when you play legato notes. There is a more interesting parameter in the VL engine where you can over-blow a flute (or whichever instrument you choose) and cause it to transition to higher ...

Re: Can midi file be transformed into mp3 file in MX88?

You need to record the Audio Output from the MX88, not the USB communications. I run the midi files to my keyboards from my PC through the USB connection, then I run the audio out jacks on the back of the keyboard into a mixer (I'm generally using more than one synth for the recordings) then the out...

Re: TX81Z Memory Expansion?

I have an editor on my Windows PC for the TX81Z that does a nice job of swapping banks of 32 patches in and out. You might consider that route since there really aren't any expansion options available.

Re: VL70M, PLG150 elements like VL1 ver. 2?

Nice! BadMister is definitely the source you should rely on. He's a real die-hard VL fan from way back.

I've thought about getting a VL1 on and off, but I always come back to the editor thing.
I HAVE a superb editor for the PLG cards, and there ISN'T an equivalent editor for the VL1.
