Re: Casio CT-X700 Review and First Impressions

I had a chance to try the CT-X keys yesterday. I went to the shop thinking they had the PX-S1000 in stock, but they didn't. I did get to try a CDP-S100, comparing it to a PX-870 and to an older CDP model. But what really impressed me was the feel of the keys on an older WK-245. It was on a rack with...

Re: A NEW Era for Portable Pianos by CASIO

About the key length on the PX-S keyboards vs previous Privia models: I've just watched Mike Martin's webinar on the PX-S3000 and he said the keys are only about an eighth of an inch shorter on the new models. So, in terms of the pivot point, there shouldn't be much difference. Several reviewers hav...

That would make it a pretty nice controller.

Re: A NEW Era for Portable Pianos by CASIO

I wonder what the 2 knobs on the PX-S3000 can do. The specs mention 14 presets, but there's no further information on what those presets might be. I wonder if they can function as a mod wheel, to control expression and anything else a mod wheel would typically be used for.

Re: Yamaha CP73 & CP88 Essential Knowledge Guide

Do you have a source for this? [...] It is at least similar to the Montage in being balanced rather than graded, but BHS implies some other change. Well... Actually, Blake Angelos and Dom Sigalas use words as "similar feel" and "basically the same as the Montage". So no one explicitly says it's ide...

I think it is definitely improved in this regard.

Everything about AiR in the new Privia pianos is improved.
Wow, thank you for the replies! Now I'm even more excited about this new Privia generation - I can't wait to try a new PX-S in a local shop!

Re: A NEW Era for Portable Pianos by CASIO

The PX-S3000 has newer (and nicer) piano samples. But the PX-560 is a more capable controller, a true synth (as far as I know, everything you can do on the PX-5S can also be done on the PX-560, except for making your own arpeggios), and a more fun arranger (you can edit the accompaniments, mute part...

Re: A NEW Era for Portable Pianos by CASIO

I would very much like to try the FP-30 too. And perhaps even the Juno again - who knows, maybe I would like it the second time. It looks like the FP-10 is going to be cheaper than the PX-S1000... And I'm curious about the noise issue with the Casio keybed too. People usually complain it starts gett...

Re: A NEW Era for Portable Pianos by CASIO

Interesting you mention the FP-30 and DS88 as I have just been talking to Roland about them ;) I always liked the action on the DS88 and the feel of the keys. Have not played the FP-30 though. I see the price on that has dropped to around £468 now? And what have Roland said - if you may disclose it...

It is not inconceivable that a 2-sensor board could play better overall than a 3-sensor board, even if it means losing some specific 3-sensor behavior.
That's right. I think Rolands are all 2-sensor and I've heard some very fast repetitions on the FP-30 and the Juno-DS 88.

I see it’s called BHS for Balanced Hammer Standard. Sure hope it’s better than their basic GHS (Graded Hammer Standard) action.
According to Blake Angelos, it's the same keybed as on the Montage, but without aftertouch.

Re: A NEW Era for Portable Pianos by CASIO

That's great news then! I checked the price for the FP-30 on the Thomann website (EUR 555), so I thought the FP-10 might be a competitor for the CDP-S100 in terms of price and similarly great action. I'm curious to see the comparison chart when you can reveal it.

There's an FP-10 too from Roland - I've just seen a video of it.

my first experience with casios piano sounds were the PCM samples in the CT-660 I once had.
I had (and still have) a Casio MT-140. :)
