my first experience with casios piano sounds were the PCM samples in the CT-660 I once had.
I had (and still have) a Casio MT-140. :)

Re: A NEW Era for Portable Pianos by CASIO

Entering digits and responses via the keys does sound unattractive indeed...

Re: A NEW Era for Portable Pianos by CASIO

Its the same thing in the Casio px 160 ... hold function + key If i understand it correctly... Yes, it is the same. I played the PX-160 in a shop about a year ago, so I can confirm. I found it very pleasant to play. Not having a screen is a frustrating indeed, but I actually like being able to trig...

Roland FP-30 ?
Yes, that's the one I meant. I'm not familiar with its interface though.

Re: A NEW Era for Portable Pianos by CASIO

its now almost 650€ for the deluxe kit. I find that price a little high for a PX-160. Not so long ago, the PX-560 was around EUR 670. No bundle, but still... Especially when you think there's a PX-770/870, which (to my knowledge) has newer piano samples than the x60 series. I'd wait for another whi...

The metal joysticks also remind me of Studiologic's SL88 and Numa.

Re: Yamaha CP73 & CP88 Essential Knowledge Guide

I've just watched a bit of Woody's review on YouTube and noticed the CP has sticks for pitch bend and modulation. I like that idea too.

Re: A NEW Era for Portable Pianos by CASIO

Let's hope it means it's 3-sensor - I'm sure Casio will be explicit about it at some point.

TWO new Privias AND a new Yamaha stage piano? This is going to be a very exciting NAMM! :)

Re: A NEW Era for Portable Pianos by CASIO

Thank you for asking Casio about that for us, Saul! So, if I understand correctly, the CDP-S series uses a less advanced version of the same samples that are used in the Privia Series (perhaps without string resonance). There may not be linear morphing as such, but there are sufficient dynamic level...

Re: A NEW Era for Portable Pianos by CASIO

I haven't seen any indication that these new models have it either. [...] I didn't expect that, since as far as I've seen, there's no reference to the "linear morphing" of the Privias. Indeed, I think it would be useful to know whether the new CDP-S series has the same keybed and linear morphing fe...

Re: A NEW Era for Portable Pianos by CASIO

I think the CDP-130 doesn't have three sensors pe key. The P45 uses Yamaha's GHS action, which many people say is not as expressive as Casio's. I like both actions, but I'm not a pianist and I have very little experience with weighted keys. There's one more thing Casio offers: seamless transition fr...

Re: A NEW Era for Portable Pianos by CASIO

I think you're right about the education sector being a very large market. And, indeed, at this price, Casio should be flooded with orders from schools. That should keep the young team motivated. :) Thanks for nurturing my hope for a new synth/controller from Casio too! :) In fact, let's hope we see...
