Re: Yamaha MODX Wishlist - Suggestions For Future Updates

You don't need to have reverb on everything and indeed as far as I can tell Yamaha tend not to overdo the effects on presets. They leave it to the end user to decide what effects to use.

Re: Hello from Chile!

MIDI can be simple or complex depending on what you want to do with it. Personally I only ever use it to control virtual instruments. So that is as simple as firing up the software, make sure my keyboard is selected as the midi input, turn "local off" on the keyboard or if it has speakers just turn ...

Re: Hello from Chile!

Hi Eduardo, welcome to the forum :)

Great birthday present the PSR 520 :occasion-cake:

It has standard 5 pin midi ports so do you use it with any soft synths, DAW etc?

Re: Dream Guitar Gear - What would you choose?

Eastman are very good in terms of both quality of their guitars and customer service so if you were to order one I am pretty sure they would be excellent at sorting out any problems although I doubt there would actually be any. Not so sure about Long and McQuade as I have heard mixed reviews about t...

Re: Microphones . . . . . . . Opinions?

Interesting question Chris. As with a lot of things these days, quality has increased and prices decreased. Look at the Yamaha FG800M I recently reviewed. Solid top, x-bracing and great sound for just £200. I have 5 mics here at the moment and none of them would break the bank. I probably use the Se...

Welcome to the forums Bert. You will find plenty of revstar fans in the "string section" :) I have tried them but not gotten around the buying one. More into acoustic guitars at the moment.

Re: Hupfield "PhonoLizst Violona Model B"

Just a stab in the dark but I am guessing this was not a commercial success? :violin:

It would be difficult enough to build that now let alone in 1910

Re: Free Software To Get You Started

Thanks John. It is an incredibly powerful DAW and for FREE it is even more amazing!

Shame it was never ported to the mac but then I guess we are not exactly short of DAW's and music software in general ;)

Re: Hello

Welcome to the forums EW :) Plenty of nice vintage Yamaha amps out there for repair and refurb so I don't think you will ever be at a loss for something to do :) I know the XS650 very well indeed. I had one for about three years and rode it every day as a dispatch rider in London and all over the UK...

Re: Yamaha MODX vs Motif XS

Thanks for the update iixorbiusii and glad to hear the MODX has grown on you :) I am very much the same in that I often start off disliking something and then given some time to get used to it I find it is actually quite good. Your car analogy is spot on :) I now try not to go by my initial impressi...

Re: Aftertouch Magazine Individual Issues 1988-1989

Welcome to the forum Bart :) I remember those floppy records. Used to have a load of them but can't remember where they all went. Have a feeling they ended up at the local tip with a load of my old vinyl records. Of course with hindsight they would have been very useful right now. Still I am sure so...
