Re: Studio Lord and Lord Player update

Hi, How much are these beauties worth? I am interested in getting one from the local adds, but the guy is asking insane price, INMHO. Also, pickup brackets screws seem a bit skewed, like someone did a lousy job. https://www.kupujemprodajem.com/Muzika-i-instrumenti/Gitare-Elektricne/Yamaha-Les-Paul-...

Re: Question about Pacifica 120H

I've just bought one brand new 120H, last week. As I travel abroad a lot, for work, I need something affordable to practice, when I am staying longer in the country. This time I am in Albania, Tirana. Guitar market is not very developed here. So I went to the nearby shop, obviously a Yamaha dealer. ...

Re: Yamaha Revstar RS620 with SD '59 and Distortion pups

Yep, those are expensive pups. I got lucky to find these handwound, unpoted PAF clones, used for 150 eur. Then I've sold my old SD's for 120. Never had any of those exotic, expensive pups so I can't compare nor comment. And knowing that changing pickups is always a gamble, I don't think I would gamb...

Re: Yamaha Revstar RS620 with SD '59 and Distortion pups

No, nothing wrong with factory pups, just a matter of taste and expectations. Also, playing skills. :) I am lucky to know personally some top level pros and I've witnessed when some of them made some cheap guitars, that I deemed useless, sing like magic. It is true that it's more in your fingers tha...

Re: Yamaha Revstar RS620 with SD '59 and Distortion pups

Well, both SD '59 and Distortion are gone now. In the meantime, I've came across a pair of used hand wound PAF clones (by a local luthier Goran Custom Guitars). Gave them a try and sold both SD pups afterwards. SD '59 is a realy nice pickup, but a bit lifeless. It came out as I got me a real tube am...

Re: Yamaha Revstar RS620 with SD '59 and Distortion pups

Brilliant ((i)) this sounds like a fine solution to the problem. :D The only thing I wonder about, is if your original pickups were set too high giving too high output, and killing sustain with the magnets too close to the strings. Regards Peter Well, I tried both raising them and lowering, but did...

Re: Yamaha Revstar RS620 with SD '59 and Distortion pups

And a few pics: The final look. My reluctancy over pups change was partially due to the aesthetics. I liked those chrome covers and wasn't sure about black uncovered pups. Well, not bad. Looks a bit meaner now. IMG_20180321_011918.jpg The factory tone capacitor vs. Mojotone. IMG_20180328_160451.jpg ...

Yamaha Revstar RS620 with SD '59 and Distortion pups

I fell in love with my RS620 from the day one, for its playability, ergonomics and overall feel. But, I was never happy with the tone. I thought that my THR 100 HD amp was partially to blame untill a friend brought over his Gibson Custom Shop Les Paul. Then I realised that my amp was actually top cl...

Re: RBX 170ew thoughts?

Thanks, Peter.

I will try it and as you say, if it feels right and looks appealing to me, I may go for it. All the reviews say it's a good entry level bass or a bass for guitarists who don't use it as a main instrument.

RBX 170ew thoughts?

I sold my first and the only bass guitar 25 years ago, or so. Now, started recording recently at home some of my own music (I guess it qualifies as such 'cos it has rhythm, kind of harmony and a melody :) ) and I am missing bass. I was thinking of something affordable and yet decent for recording at...

Re: Revstar RS620 bridge/saddle replacement

It took a bit more than 3 weeks but I got it today. Complete bridge assembly with bushings and studs. Which is nice because my studs are seriously chipped both by previous owner and by me forcing them with a screwdriver. Will be gentle this time. :)

Re: Revstar RS620 bridge/saddle replacement

I assume this is the place? https://www.iparkmall.co.kr/main/sub08_01.asp ((i)) Exactly. But if you come by metro, you don't get to see the front of it. I actually saw it only yesterday, as I had to meet a friend nearby. If I saw that picture before, I wouldn't be able to tell, although I was there...

Re: Best Electric Guitars Under £500?

I have bought recently a brand new Epiphone SG G400 Worn brown (MIK 2011), for practice. Awesome guitar for only about 200 EUR. Super comfortable neck for playing and also very light body. The action can be set to very very low, with no buzzing. Surprisingly good build quality and very good parts (n...

Re: Revstar RS620 bridge/saddle replacement

The shop is located on the 6th floor of the iPark shopping mall, at Yongsan metro station (shopping mall is practically attached to the station), in Seoul. Guys there speak just enough English to help. Very kind, too. Also, useful link is https://kr.yamaha.com/ko/support/service_locator/ Use "Transl...
