Re: Are synthesizers addictive?

Welcome to the club!! :) Thanks  ! Well, I have been thinking about my GAS syndrome and I think I have the answer. I have loved music since I can recall. I like to have a melody on my head always and sing it or virtually play it to myself with all detail. But the keyboard playing had always be...

Re: Are synthesizers addictive?

It is great to see that I am not alone. And, now that it has a name (GAS), I can call it properly :) Well, after yesterday's acquisition of a very nice one-owner DX7, and today acquisition of a TG77, I think I am done for some days... Once all my units arrive, I will see how to arrange them and whic...

Re: Are synthesizers addictive?

I have just found a reasonably priced DX7  ... Well, my case is different, at least regarding the nostalgia factor. I was not interested on keyboards when these synths were new... But the music they helped to create. Oh well! Regarding space, I have found a way to devote a 15 square ...

Re: My SY77 repair (LCD backlight, sliders, switches, ...)

Thanks Jose -- that's kind of you to offer but probably easiest if I can track down the part myself. I think this looks like an appropriately spec'd replacement: https://www.digikey.ca/product-detail/en/bourns-inc/PTA3043-2010CIB103/PTA3043-2010CIB103-ND/3781185 This look good to you? The original ...

Re: EX7 purchase?

Well, I did it again  ... I have bought the EX5R I commented... and also the EX7  ! To make it short, the seller has took the EX7 to my home. I had set a pair of HS5 to test it. I received some days ago a Korg M1 and had it connected to the HS5 to test it. Then I have replaced it wit...

Re: My SY77 repair (LCD backlight, sliders, switches, ...)

I bought them from an Spanish eBay seller. I will check if they are still available and will let you know. I need to order also two sets for my two other SY77 projects. If you want, I can order an extra set for you and send them.

Re: EX7 purchase?

And the EX7 has a lesser keyboard. I mean lower quality (it has nothing to do with the number of keys). The EX5 has the excellent FS keybed (used on all upper range Yam and Korg synths until the Motif ES and Oasys 76, still used on the Montage in a lead free version called FSX) while the EX7 has a ...

Re: EX7 purchase?

Hi. The EX7 has more limited DSP than the EX5, so a lot depends on how important the modelled voices are and their effects. If you want VL then it has to be an EX5. If you want AN or FDSP then the EX7 has more constraints than the EX5 all to do with the DSP count. The EX5 has two DSP and DSP1 is de...

Re: EX7 purchase?

Sometimes posts are deleted due to spam Jose so I guess that is what happened here. EX7 is a nice keyboard of course but it kind of depends what you need that it has vs your SY77? EX5 is always the way to go if you can but that one you mentioned seems a little pricey to me, especially taking into a...

Re: EX7 purchase?

I don't know why an answer to my post has just vanished! All in all, I am considering the local EX7 at 350€ (I have offered that and seller seems to have accepted) and also an EX5 for 590€ but it is far from here and, adding a hard case for it and then the shipping cost, go to a whopping 890€, which...

EX7 purchase?

Hi all, I have the chance to buy locally (and that is a big plus after my heartbreaking transport damage on my recently acquired SY77  ) an EX7 in excellent shape . Seller asks 400 EUR for it, which seems to me on the high side but, well, good condition is always a plus. I wonder if you can com...

Re: Another SY77 will be here in short time!

I know how you feel, my heart sunk years ago when I unboxed my Juno when it arrived, it was in a real sorry state, contrary to the description and photos. I am sure you'll figure something out for it. Correct me if I am wrong, the broken right end cap can be replaced as it comes off as a separate p...

Re: Another SY77 will be here in short time!

I feel sad to seeing this, I feel for you :( That's terrible. Did you have insurance on it? How was it packed inside the box? was there sufficient padding inside? if there was it'd take a lot to do that kind of damage. Rara 0-) Thanks for your support! The seller has told me that it was insured. Bu...
