Re: Basic questions about the John Melas software

I agree about the waveform editor being the only essential one. That’s even if you are not interested in editing the waveforms. The name is actually not doing it justice. It can do much more and moving around performances is what makes it so valuable. You can easily create new libraries from many ot...

Re: MODX Live Set Modifications

The big problem with the live screen editing is that you cannot insert into the middle of a live set nor remove from the middle. This is a big problem for example when you decide to insert one more song into the middle of a Set. You have to move all later songs one by one by hand. John‘s tools can d...

Re: Scenes problem

There might be some other problem at play: a scene does not necessarily store all the settings which can be stored. There are different setting areas (e.g. mixer, arp, ...) which can be enabled and disabled individually. If an area is not enabled then it won’t store the respective settings. Go into ...

Re: Only send sustain midi signal from MODX

My understanding is that you want to play the MODX locally and have the sustain pedal only transmitted to a different synth. If that’s correct then what works is to have the zone master globally switched on and then have a part which is used to only transmit the pedal. For that you do as I wrote. So...

Re: Only send sustain midi signal from MODX

Yes, this is possible. I use MIDI zone master on and then set the channel To that of the receiving keyboard and then the key range to be outside of the range of the physical keyboard. Then you only transmit the sustain.

Re: Audio input cuts out when a new new performance is selected.

Glad that it helps! And should you ever need this I believe it is also possible with an Android phone. You would need an on-the-go adapter.

Re: Audio input cuts out when a new new performance is selected.

The cutoff is to be expected. The effects for the A/D input are stored with each performance. This is a nice feature! When changing a performance the synth is switching between the old and the new effects. So they need to finish the old one and then enable the new one. So a short cut out is to be ex...

Re: Is a performance a factory preset

There are several ways: press enter, then on the touch screen the property button to the left. Then you see the bank.

Even faster: press the store button and see if „overwrite current performance“ is there and selected. If no it is a preset.

Re: MODX7 plus weighted controller - good option?

Yes, that will work. I am doing something very similar (although it’s actually the very opposite 🤪). In my setup I am using a Montage 6 as the sole sound source. I am controlling it from a MODX 8. For rehearsals I am using just the Montage. For gigs I am sometimes using only the Montage and sometime...

ZT Scheer. For what its worth, I respect your convictions and the fact that you came back to the discussion. There could be many that see YAMAHA the way you do about the subject. My comments are just one view among a sea of viewpoints. There's no animosity on my part. I assure you. I am also sensit...

Nope! I can only second: Make sure that you switch off (again?) all the screen effects, then it is fast.

Re: New MONTAGE/MODX OS update

The phrase "new product announcement s " occurs in all cases.Do I need to quote each of them in full context? Note MusicRadar being specifically being told that their will be "new product announcement s ". Well factually, there was a new product announcement, namely the Montage White. This may not ...

Re: New MONTAGE/MODX OS update

Hi everybody. What about "SSS" flag after OS 2.0 release ? Kbd Ctl saved into scenes makes "SSS" no longer meaningful ? Thanks D The SSS certainly has still uses. If you want to switch the whole performance you need to use the performance SSS. Otherwise you can only switch inside a specially prepar...

Re: New MONTAGE/MODX OS update

Hello Sirs. After installing version 2.0 on MODX a RESTORE from a backup file will restore perfromances, libraries and user data, right ? No need to restore / reload individual components ? Would you please confirm this procedure ? Many thanks in advance. D Not sure if I get you right. In order to ...
