Re: Mac OSX Catalina & MODX Connect Software

About the only thing I do agree with in principle, is they have sandboxed the operating system into a read only partition for security, but that in itself has caused a lot of incompatibility with existing apps. They have rushed it out, without letting other developers catch up. But your are right, M...

Re: Mac OSX Catalina & MODX Connect Software

I updated my non music Mac to Catalina. There were so many other apps that it broke too, with no prospect of any updates, that I re-installed Mojave, with no intention of updating for a long time. I don't even have any use for any of the new features it contains. It seems so geared now to just consu...

Re: Sharing user performances

thanks Saul, I appreciate your input, and potential help. I understand that file size can be a problem for many folk. I've been there myself! Fortunately, though living in a moderately remote region in Australia, I have wireless which puts 1GB of data within doable range now. the 499 will probably t...

Re: How does one backup a single performance

Of course you could just save the one user performance as a user backup file directly too, once you've only got the single file in user slot 1, but it makes it more convenient in a library file if you want to import it and add to existing user performances already in the slots.

Re: How does one backup a single performance

I use a a bit of twisty way, but it works... If I want just one performance saved, I save a library that contains the user file I want first, I then load a default "all" save with no user performances loaded. I then import the one user performance into the first slot, then save as a one performance ...

Re: Sharing user performances

Hi Macke, that's fine, I know you are just pointing out the details that need to be. I do intend to get it out, just not as soon as I had expected. I guess I naively thought of just dumping it out there with a short description, but neglected the realities of doing this, (which is unlike me, being a...

Re: Sharing user performances

thanks for your reply Macke. I was just thinking that if a user had the Bosie library installed, it would just pick up the part I used. If not, the performance would still sound as created, just with the release sounds off, which some people prefer anyway. I might need to think about all this first,...

Re: Sharing user performances

thanks for you reply Macke. I have to just check, but I realised that I might be ok there, because I have the Bosendorfer and the Steinway loaded into user memory at the same time. This means that it may only work if other people have the Bosendorfer library loaded already. If I remember, I loaded t...

Sharing user performances

A while back I used samplerobot to port a Montage/MODX performance of a free Steinway grand I like and use occasionally on my Kronos. The samples were created by Iowa State Uni. It is freely available on the web, and is advertised as such. It's not a particularly sophisticated sampleset, but it has ...

Re: help from MODX8 users please

I initially had a few rattly keys when I first used my MODX8 back almost a year a go. It has settled down somewhat, though there is one black key which still has a bit of a metal hitting plastic sound when released, but I only notice it when there's no sound playing. Compared to my other keyboards, ...

Re: OS Update Release

I probably should have put this in the wishlist, but I was really surprised when I first got my MODX to discover it didn't trasmit release velocity. I can understand a cheaper keybed not having aftertouch these days, but release velocity? It's just a firmware function as far as I'm aware. I play a l...

Re: The super knob

I too was critical of the "Superknob", when it was first released. Not it's functionality or purpose...but the name they gave it, and the throbbing light. It just seemed so untechnical and 19th century scifi, for such a well engineered control. The first thing I did when powering up my MODX was to d...

Re: MODX keybed

I have a rather curious update with my MODX8 keybed... Since reporting on this thread that I had a couple of clackity keys way back, I've not been using it all that much lately, as I've been off busy with other pursuits. But I was playing around with it a few days ago, and noticed that the noisy key...

Same issues with the Casio PX-5S keybed!
Interesting....I had a PX5S for a number of years and not had the problem. I still have a PX560, which has the same keybed, and it's fine too.
I must have been lucky , I guess

Re: Yamaha MODX Noisy Keys?

I have 3 keys exhibiting the noise. At this stage they are all black keys, and it started with one key, so I expect further keys to become a problem. I've had my MODX8 for about 6 weeks. The first key noise started around 4 weeks. I have contacted my local Yamaha service tech, here in Australia, who...
