Most unique Piano Covers!
Hi everyone ! I like to play popular songs from all times in different styles from around the world such as Samba, Salsa, African, Funk, Jazz, Reggae, Waltz etc. I thought 'Despacito' would sound quite nice in Ragtime. Would Scott Joplin approve? I hope you enjoy this rendition and let's interact on...

Re: Help me find a band name
thanks a lot for the suggestions, I find most of them too difficult to pronounce/ remember for the local crowd or have a different connotation as well like Sol being a name of a note as well , though 'Luna' could be good out of your list and it's commonly known worldwide. We're still debating more o...

Re: Q regarding weighted keyboard maintenance
Exactly my thinking! I was actually furious as paying this kind of money still meant that after ~1.5 years I had to take it to the store and pay more for the fix for those several bad keys. I don't gig or take out the keyboard.. I play quite a lot but not THAT much (I don't play many hours a day and...

Q regarding weighted keyboard maintenance
hi guys I have a Montage 8 weighted hammer action keyboard. I personally love the sound presets although I don't bother with the hassle to program it. I bought it new at around nov. 2018 and about 4 months ago or so I took it to the store because several keys were sticky, sluggish and had an uneven ...

Need help with direct Monitor A/D
hi guys due to Corona my workplace will be having me teaching my students at home using ZOOM app instead of coming. I have made quite a neat improvised setup. However one thing, I am using Montage 8 and a dynamic mic insereted into the A/D input jack. BUT the problem is when I'm using ZOOM I get dou...

Sampling stuff for the Montage 8
So I would like to sample 2 instruments to be used in my YAMAHA Montage 8 and would appreciate if I could get a hint I heard SampleRobot for Montage edition might be what I'm looking for but I'm not sure 1) my Roland Jupiter 6, I'd like to sample some presets and cutom sounds for 88 keys. The JP6 ha...

Re: Writing sheet music with the Yamaha Montage
So I promised to update about notation softwares. I did try Musescore and I think it's horrible. definitely a sharp learning curve and not intuitive whatsoever for a beginner. But I wouldn't complain since it's free! So I ended up buying Dorico Elements 2 .. comparing to experience using Sibelius 7,...

Re: My original piece on the Yamaha Montage 8
Great job Chummy. Very nicely played indeed!   And THAT folks is why I stick to guitar. My piano hands will simply never work like that ;) :/: Haha.. are there any videos of you playing? I always wanted to play guitar and I did learn for 2 years at some point, but the only thing ...

Re: My original piece on the Yamaha Montage 8
Thanks guys. I didn't nail the pedal although I have to be barefoot for it not to move. I still think the feel and response of it could be better. Maybe it's because I am using an old cheap chinese pedal. I don't know really. Ragtime just comes naturally to me to improvise in real time and compose. ...

My original piece on the Yamaha Montage 8
"The Ragtime Party" My original Ragtime piece. Played by me (the composer). In case Ragtimers and music appreciators would like to have a listen. I kinda like my execution here although there may had been a little bit of overpedaling (towards the end) than what I would have intended due to...

Re: New KORG Volca Modular & Volca Drum NAMM 2019
I agree. Though they may appear to none musicians, or DJs/ music lovers who just want to make music by pressing a few buttons and twisting a few knobs. It's pretty much like buying a toy, a game (guitar hero much?). It sounds decent for the price. but size, polyphony and overall limited application ...

Re: New KORG Volca Modular & Volca Drum NAMM 2019
Thanks for the update but I can't say I'm excited. The Volca range was never appealing to me as I don't think of them as serious instruments. I don't mind they are "cheap gear" at all, it's not the issue, but the groovebox format just doesn't do it for me. Also they are tiny as hell.

Re: Yamaha MODX Noisy Keys?
I don't think QC in China (MODX) is as good as QC in Japan (Montage). Although "made in china" now is much better than "made in china" in the 80s. Still, they have a way to go. I heard there were many QC problems with other products unrelated to maker. For example I heard a serie...

Re: Working on a PC infront of the Montage?
Well damn you got yourself a pretty ergonomic setup! I've got a really small and flimsy computer desk, the Montage is on the Z stand set to sitting height, it works great that way, as well as the 2 monitors to the back (I might lower them monitors stands a bit though from what they are now as in the...
