Re: Problem with floppy disk in Yamaha SY85
Derek has given you great advice, the drives on the SY77, 85 and 99 were quite robust, usually a new drive belt takes care of many issues. I'm not aware of who stocks SY85 belts, I think they are different than the SY77/99 (both of which I have). A simple Google or Bing search titled SY85 drive belt...

Re: RE: Line Mixer (help?)
How about something like the Yamaha MG166CX mixer, I have had good success with Yamaha mixers over the years, dependable, low total harmonic distortion and great results in studio mixing. There are options out there, you just have to look for them.

Re: YST M100 - I can't tell if it's broken or not...
I think you nailed it Buzzard. Many people never realize that once you go beyond 50% volume level on your amp, you are starting to eliminate headroom for transient peaks, the farther you go past 50% volume, the worse it gets. Small speaker sizes coupled with low power wattage of the amp will not all...

Re: ANYONE HAD A DX NOT POWER UP???? HELP PLEASE....
I just saw this thread, I have been away from the forum for a while. Prior to opening up your DX11, you might want to check the power cord first for a short, it could be something that simple and if that is the problem, the power cord could be easily replaced. I will also say that DX and SY series s...

One of my old bands
This is a link to the Facebook page for one of the bands I was in during the '60s. We released a 45 rpm record in 1965, played many clubs, proms, "sock hops" and even a used car dealership to help pay for our Cadillac hearse that we used to travel in. I had a lot of fun times with this ban...

Re: RE: Mixer / Stereo Question (help?)
You will find that even the multi thousand dollar "pro mixing boards" are all mono channels that require you to use two mono channels per stereo synth, I'm talking about even huge mixing boards that have 32-64 inputs.

Re: dx to sy conversion?!
I have always found that after converting DX patches to the SY that I have to do some manual tweaking, that's just the way it is. I can usually get them quite close though maybe not perfect, but as Derek mentioned, they have a very similar sound.

Re: RE: Mixer / Stereo Question (help?)
I simply deal with "that's the way it is" and make sure I have enough mono channels to take care of all my stereo needs. And I think Yamaha's mixers do a great job of delivering good results for the money spent. Many of the large venue sound stations I have visited used HUGE Yamaha mixers ...

Awesome Derek! The SY community efforts on this project have been fantastic. Now if I could just get huge amounts of sample ram for my SY99.

Re: Will a SY77 be right for me?
There are indeed tons of SY77 patches on the net as well as SY99 patches which do not work very well with the SY77 without a lot of editing. Google and Bing searches should find many patches for you in addition to the excellent links which Derek listed.

Re: RE: Mixer / Stereo Question (help?)
On my old Yamaha 12 channel mixer, all inputs were mono channels, so each synth run in stereo required two mono channels, one panned hard left, they other panned hard right. Pretty much the same on my newer Yamaha digital mixer recorder, you are not really "losing" channels, you are simply...

Re: It´s WINDOWS 10 time!
Windows 10 works fine. I was running the beta for quite a while and it was perfectly stable. Didn't find anything I use that would not run with it. It's certainly better than Win 8/8.1 Apparently Win 10 is going to be the last version of Windows. Not sure what comes next. How about Microsoft Amiga ...

Re: Now's Your Chance To Give Yamaha Some Feedback!
I would love to see Yamaha start to innovate again, they used to have plenty of quality R&D to be able to do so, perhaps we will see that again, but I will wait for the proof.

Re: Yamaha reface Product Launch UK July 10th 2015
One could ask instead, what is the point of/reasoning behind keeping to bash them because they don't develop this mega-synth? Maybe there aren't enough people that feel the need to have multiple engines in one keyboard and if they do, maybe they just stick to a computer and controller also when pla...

Re: What is Yamaha thinking?
Derek, I agree with all you said, Yamaha has many different technologies at hand that they could combine in one super synth, they just don't seem to want to do it.
