Re: Does MODX have all preset voices of MOXF?

drawbar tones on a real tonewheel organ change in character with the position of the swell pedal (somewhat simulated with a distortion effect, but not quite the same) Reading back through this, I see that it may be a bit long. Feel free to skim or skip. I think that I may understand this one a bit....

Re: Does MODX have all preset voices of MOXF?

Anotherscott explained that the voices are all there. You will just need to hunt them down (voice numbers are fairly meaningless on the keyboard itself - they apparently exist only in the DataList - a complaint I have with both MODX and Montage) and change the sequence to the new location. Having a ...

Montage Balanced Hammer vs. MODX Graded Hammer Keybed

Four or five months ago I was shown the new MODX 8 at Guitar Center in Atlanta. I was so impressed by the availability of this unit with: 1. Weighted action at 30 pounds 2. FM sounds built in 3. Flagship sound set (as with the S-90 series pianos) 4. $1900 plus tax drive out price. So I sold my S-90 ...

Re: How to link a performance to a song ?

I believe that you may have to select the SONG, which will have a performance tied to it? Most synths, and even digital organs, separate MIDI songs from performances in this manner.

Re: Any solution to this problem of live performance?

I used my S-90 with certain sounds played from the S-90 and others (my "solo" sounds) played by a Roland A-30 controller MIDI'd to the Yamaha. Things I needed done to the solo sounds generally had to be done by the device playing them, the A-30 in this case. The A-30 did not accept a continuous cont...

Re: Pedal steel guitar for MODX

Isn't Sample Robot very good at sampling one synth to another? Hopefully, the MODX can handle the effects and use just the raw unmodulated Pedal Steel sound from the Kronos.

Re: Yamaha MODX Noisy Keys?

For the purpose of this post, I will refer to the mechanical/sensor assembly as the keybed and the entire unit as a keyboard. I have recently solved my problem of being afraid of buying the MODX 8. The keybed problem would likely persist long after the 90 day warranty expires, after all. So I instea...

Re: sustain pedal behavior not as expected [SOLVED]

One time I troubleshot an automotive temperature gauge circuit for a long time after trying TWO new sender units. After all, it couldn't be the sender since I replaced it twice, could it? It was the sender. Both new items had been defective. You absolutely MUST eliminate the pedal itself from this q...

Here is the post I am referring to:

I should mention that in hunting for that particular post, I found far more positive ones regarding Mr. Polich.

Re: new libraries

I read a few messages (on YamahaSynth.com, I believe) stating that this source offered ensembles for the Montage that included many programs that did not work or were duplicates. I believe that much of the material may have originally been developed for the Motif. I know that one or two individuals ...

Re: Export/Import single Performance Patch

I am now the proud owner of a 2018 Montage and have just upgraded the operating system from 2.0 to 2.5. I now have the task of creating the setups (performances) needed to use this machine. My intent will be to put something like this together in about three or four general performances: 1. Piano hi...

Re: Wurlitzer (Theater) Organ sounds for Montage/MODX

Well, step one has been accomplished. I now have what is probably a 2018 Montage 8 (operating system 2.02 I believe). Job one is going to be figuring out how to move this rather substantial piece of equipment. A 53 lb Kurzweil PC3x in a soft wheeled porter bag has been my heaviest in a long time. I ...

Re: Wurlitzer (Theater) Organ sounds for Montage/MODX

SampleRobot looks like it has possibilities. I think that going for individual stops would be tedious. Probably better to select a dozen or so complete registrations and record them as complete setups, say two manuals only. Or maybe stick with three, splitting the keyboard into three zones plus peda...

Re: Montage8 vs Kronos 88 - The Decision

I bought the Yamaha HS8's. After about 8+ hours of finding the bad frequencies and adjusting for my room, I got the Yamaha's sounding fairly good. Here are the settings that did the trick on the master eq: +7 / 125 Hz -9 / 315 Hz / 6.9 Q -1 / 2.8 kHz / 2.9 Q -2 / 7.0 kHz / 2.8 Q I am actually looki...

Wurlitzer (Theater) Organ sounds for Montage/MODX

For you Brits, change the title (in your mind) to "Compton (Cinema) Organ sounds . . . . " Having sold my Yamaha S-90 (with DX plug-in board) I need to decide on its replacement. I am now shifting my interest from the MODX to the actual Montage. This is due to the discouraging talk regarding noisy k...
