Re: Yamaha MDF3: Black 16x1 LCD and USB emulator upgrades

The firmware is always installed on the emulator by the manufacturer and the end users don't have access to it. But there are those few that have the knowledge to take things a bit farther. Here is an interesting OLED modification: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-K31S2xqZIk I did not do that one ev...

Re: Yamaha MDF3: Black 16x1 LCD and USB emulator upgrades

The PMA-5 only allowed me to do a bulk dump to the MDF and, as well, I can only reup my stuff to the PMA-5. Is there a way of parsing the MDR_##.B## files and extract the midi info from there? I doubt there is anything we can do about this. The MDF3 is simply a digital recorder that does not know a...

Re: Yamaha MDF3: Black 16x1 LCD and USB emulator upgrades

I have a Midifiler MFD3 and have about (qty) 20, 1.44 disks full of material downloaded from a Roland PMA-5. I can only reload my PMA-5 with the midi songs. Is there a way of converting the Yamaha MDF3 files into midi files so I can import it into a DAW or a program like Sonar? Thank you. I am not ...

Re: Yamaha MDF3: Black 16x1 LCD and USB emulator upgrades

Thanks for the kind words parametric. These forums have offered advice and more to me over the years so when I have the opportunity I give a little something back. Who knows, someone with a datafiler or other similar device may find the information posted here useful in their upgrade projects. I do ...

Yamaha MDF3: Black 16x1 LCD and USB emulator upgrades

A few months ago I was surfing online when I came upon a listing for a used Yamaha MDF3. The price was about one half of what these devices normally sell for. The original manual and original box were included. The pictures showed a very clean unit and a manual in pretty good condition. I did not re...

Re: black/white display for EX5R - done :)

That is the ERM32080-1 Series 4.5-inch 320x80 Dots Graphic LCD Module with a BuyDisplay.com logo. It is supposed to have a price tag of $30 on alibaba.com if bought in lots of 500 pieces. Even though the logo is from BuyDisplay.com they never made that display officially. It must be a custom part or...

Hi,

so i took the plunge finally, installing the black/white lcd on my EX5R (and XV5080).
Is there a part number for this display? I am not asking who the supplier was but what was printed on the back of the display board.

Regards,
DrF

Re: AW4416 sticky work surface

I had the "sticky" condition appear out of the blue in three different items so far. The first was on a Grundig G6 Aviator AM/FM/SW radio, Buzz Aldrin edition. It is a known issue with this otherwise nice radio. I used isopropyl alcohol to remove the stickiness. It worked but some of the lettering i...

Re: New Screen Replacement Option

Unfortunately the displays are not identical. The LCD used in the SY77/99 comes with its own controller, while the one in the RM1X does not have a controller. In the latter case the controller and RAM chip are on the motherboard. It is almost impossible to find a display with the exact dimensions th...

Re: Does showing the cover of a book you have for sale on eBay v

Then go to California where people have neighborhood book exchange posts, a small bookcase on the side of a sidewalk open to everyone to put a used book in there or borrow one to read and hopefully return it. They are stocked frequently by the residents of the neighborhood. Nobody pays to read a cop...

Re: Does showing the cover of a book you have for sale on eBay v

I’ll stop at that point! Please, don't stop, keep going. It's political correctness after all, and on both sides of the pond we have a lot of people that do nothing else but shoot themselves on the foot, every single day. The only reason the original question came up is because the "holder" of the ...

Re: Behringer announces the DS-80

Jesus Christ I just bought the Behringer 12 because the 12D with a controller was taking up too much space on my desk. These people will drive my bank account all the way down the tubes... :) :) :) Here is another link with pictures: https://www.gearnews.com/behringer-releases-draft-of-ds-80-synthes...

Re: Yamaha Idea Scale CS80 Questionnaire

They can design it in any way they want but I would prefer something modular. Technology has moved a lot so they can shrink all the original bells and whistles and still have enough space left for expansions. - Sell the keybed and hefty power supply with some basic modules for starters so that peopl...

Re: Yamaha EX5R For Sale

This one is definitely overpriced. Over the past couple of years I thought about putting mine up for bid on Ebay. It has the SCSI card, dual card SCSI reader with two 1GB CF cards installed, all original Yamaha memory maxed out and both EXIDO1 and EXDGO1 cards (analog and digital) installed inside, ...
