Yup, there is not much that gets past the mods. If it does it is not there for long before it is spotted and dealt with

Re: MODX Essential Knowledge Guide

It sure is. I have barely scratched the surface of my Montage (due to being insanely busy as usual), but I have had a brain wave on something (will keep it a secret for new ;) ) which means I must finally get into FM-X to try something out. If it works, I’ll spill the beans here :)

Re: Microphones . . . . . . . Opinions?

Plus one on the Red5Audio RV5. All of my Carreg Ddu vocal recordings have been done on this well priced microphone. It had a very good Sound on Sound write up and seems a bargain for £130. Most mics of this type all use the same capsules. I don’t use a Shure on stage, but what I do use is escaping m...

Re: Yamaha Idea Scale CS80 Questionnaire

Hi,

I fixed up the quoted post above so it made more sense :)

And that is my view. reproducing old analog is good in hardware, but you then limit yourself in terms of market. Modelling in different incarnations (including a flagship synth all the way down to a VST) would cover all bases.

Re: Restoring "Tears for Fears" Prophet 5. .

Thanks for sharing. I wasn't quite sure why these where Behringer videos, but the following from the Youtube page explains it We recently purchased a collection of heritage synthesizers from iconic 80's band Tears For Fears. Our Music Tribe UK Care team begin repairing the Prophet 5 in a quest to br...

Re: first few questions...before purchase

Hi, I cannot comment on learning curve coming from an ES as I came from an older EX5 to a Montage. You can import all of your ES data into the Montage. I have imported some old libraries I had for my Motif Rack ES, and I cannot hear any differences in sound. Kudos to Yamaha for that backwards compat...

Re: USB Flash Drive 3.0

Don’t forget it is not just the load speed but also FLASH write speed, internal transfers of data between subsystems ( the Yamaha EX5 SCSI transfer speed) was crippled due to this, etc.

Re: Line 6 Variax Survey

Indeed. It is so last century, especially given that 10% of the world population is left handed. Oh, wait! last century they made left handed 500s!

Re: Line 6 Variax Survey

It popped into my inbox last night I used every single comment field to get the words LEFT and HANDED in within the context of the question. :) E.g. there was a question that came up when I noted I had a “legacy” Variax 500 which asked why I was still using it instead of a later model. Answer becaus...

Re: Does showing the cover of a book you have for sale on eBay v

The EU has thrown everyone under the bus. The people who passed this legislation are not the ones who will be affected by it. So easy for them to sit there in the EU parliament bubble and pass laws like this and yet have no inkling whatsoever of the consequences. That’s the problem with the EU in g...

And this is where future EU copyright legislation is going to make this far worse.....

EDIT - sorry didn’t realise this was such an old post. I saw it in “related posts” when replying to another.

Re: Reverb - Best/Favorites

I tend to turn off board reverbs when recording and go for Waves Abbey Road Plates, Eventide SP2016 or Eventide Blackhole when recording. Why? When recording multiple boards and VSTs you want them all in the same reverb space, or I do!
