Re: black/white display for EX5R - done :)

I had an EX5S. They were the last of the production line, and I think only around 500 were made. So rare, but not worth paying over the odds for a silver paint job.

Re: Hi!

The DX7 was the synth I wanted in 1983, but could never afford it on apprentice wages. I fell out of music at the time, but when I got back into it in 1998 when I had the disposable income, I got myself a DX7II. In hindsight it was a mistake, I should have gone for an SY77 (but that would have been ...

Re: Hi!

Hello and welcome. The MODX and Montage are best sellers for Yamaha, and I think the MODX is romping away from the competition at its price point. I've always loved the Yamaha sound, but was less enamoured with Yamaha during the Motif Era (nice sounding, but boring engines), so I was quite pleased w...

Hi, all

I came across an original review for the SY99 in Sound on Sound on the mu:zines site, so thought I'd post it here.

mu:zines - Electronic Music Magazine Archive

Hi, I think this site deserves a mention in its own thread :) It was mentioned once in another thread in 2017, so probably a little buried. I came across it again today whilst looking for something on the SY77. http://www.muzines.co.uk/ Quite a valuable resource of old magazines, very carefully scan...

Re: GAS got me again and I bought a Fantom G6

Shame on selling a piece of FROST* history ;)

Great band. Few would believe that Jem can produce bands like Atomic Kitten (day job) but then make music like FROST*! First album (Million Town) is the best, though.

Re: MODX Songwriters ?

Hi, Greg Thanks for listening and providing feedback. I appreciate that. I am quite pleased with what I have achieved, as I did not seriously start music until 1999 when I got myself the DX7 (DX7II actually) that I promised myself in 1983, but could never afford. I dabbled in composing on and off, b...

Re: GAS got me again and I bought a Fantom G6

... Of course that does nothing to stop the VSTi GAS! :D Don't start me on this :shhh: ! I got recently Komplete 12 , as I had the chance to update from my (bought second hand) Komplete Audio 6 software (I don't know exactly why, but that offer was a great finding). That, along the big discount the...

Re: GAS got me again and I bought a Fantom G6

Yeah I have had to step back from the computer keyboard on several occasions recently when I very nearly pressed the buy button for VSTi's! It is way too easy and tempting! At least hardware entails a bit more effort as I would normally only ever buy a keyboard that I was able to collect in person....

Re: MODX Songwriters ?

No worries. I consider myself to be serious, but am not consistent as per your definition. I go through creative spurts, and will drop anything that I think is not up to scratch, which might mean waiting a while for the right idea. Other things in life get in the way (like work that often takes me a...

Re: MODX Songwriters ?

Hi, Greg I am not quite sure what your definition of a “Serious MODX” song writer is? And does that also cover Montage owners? I have written several songs that include my Montage, but rarely do I rely on one instrument, and everything is recorded in Cubase. I like combinations and layers - some obv...

Re: Working USB SSDs, Mine works well.

Thanks for sharing. That is worth knowing, although I’d struggle to fill the 64GB USB Thumb drive that I have for the Montage.

Re: GAS got me again and I bought a Fantom G6

The only real cure for GAS is a small studio! You then have to operate a one in one out policy. I have space for four boards - five at a push if I use the third tier on my Montage/Kronos stand. Whilst I have resisted that for a long time, I may be succumbing. Of course that does nothing to stop the ...
