Yamaha FS1r Battery Replacement Guide

Hi, all Here is a short guide to replacing the battery in an FS1r, as my FS1r was now telling me it needed replacing. I wasn't going to do a guide for this, but after undoing all of the screws on the top of the case and then realising that was probably not the way to go, I thought that somebody coul...

Re: An idea on how to organize sounds for quick access

The thing about the Live Set pages is the flexibility for you to organise what works best for you. For somebody playing in a lot of different bands and styles, then I can see the advantages of what you suggest. I personally do not do those sorts of bands and gigs, so I prefer to set things out in th...

Re: Thinking of getting a SY77

Agreed. I realise it's totally "pathetic" - but I miss the simple hypnotic pleasure of watching an album's LABEL going round and round. :o parametric Ah, you will then be wanting my limited edition vinyl edition of Black Sabbath's "Master of Reality" limited edition, which has the vertigo logo in t...

Re: Thinking of getting a SY77

I think it is luck. My £180 SY77 was a mess but it cleaned up OK (and I got some money back when I complained via eBay. My £250 SY99 was local collection only in a remote part of Wales (still a day’s round trip for me, but we made a day out around it) and my TG77 was an £80 spares or repair bargain ...

Re: Thinking of getting a SY77

The SY77 is indeed a very underrated board, and a bit of a “synth secret” in that it is capable of so much, warm analog as much as digital FM.

Re: Maybe the final performance in the UK?

Fingers crossed, although I have been a bit sceptical about “final tours”, eve since I saw “The War of the Worlds” FINAL arena tour in 2015, and they are still going....

Thanks for confirming. The other user I did this for has now also confirmed this as well, so I’ll do a formal release for it in the next few weeks.

Re: Thinking of getting a SY77

Hi, Yes, forget a DX7 unless you want a classic DX7 for the reasons of having one. The SY77 is a much more capable FM beast. A good one will turn up eventually. Having said that, my SY77 was my most ever disappointing eBay bid. Described as perfect and in full working order, like yours, it was a mes...

Re: I made a really cool new SY/TG77 bank :)

Hi

I’m afraid I don’t think I did as life has been manic ever since that holiday. I will try and listen when I can, but the next few weeks are not good either and I am mostly away from home (sadly not on holiday). Ask me again in April, if I do not reply before then. :)

Re: Trouble controlling hardware synths from Cubase 10

TBH, as I record a unique track for each part, I simply don't bother with embedding program changes, and just select the sound manually before recording (noting what I am using in the notes page for a track). Why? Well, what I have in my synth memory at the time of recording might not be the same in...

Re: UX16 MIDI TROUBLE BLUES

I agree with Saul, and it is a way to eliminate a potential problem if you have several MIDI interfaces. Do you get the same before with both? Yes then it is not the MIDI interface. No, then it is the MIDI interface.... MIDI OX is not that hard to use. There are probably plenty of tutorials on the W...

Re: Trouble controlling hardware synths from Cubase 10

Hi. You will need to embed program changes in the MIDI data when you need it. The patch selector only works at the start. Or the other option is to not bother with patch changes in tracks, but have a separate track for each sound. I do the latter and it makes mixing much easier. The days of having s...
