Re: Got a Montage 6

Hi,

I guess it depends on what you are looking to do, and the balance of the strengths of weakness of what you have available (nothing is ever perfect).

For me, the Montage and Kronos are an exceptional combination, especially when I can add a Nord G2 Engine and any VSTi I have to the mix!

Re: Vangelis at his Monster Custom Setup . . . .

Cosmos was probably also my first introduction to Vangelis, followed by seminal Jon and Vangelis tracks (like “I hear you now”) and of course Blade Runner. What I have always loved about Vangelis is the “organic” feel that he coaxes out of synthetic devices. Genius.

Hi.

Simple answer is very unlikely unless Yamaha have done circuit revisions, and I have not heard of any.

Re: Modx performances

Hi, The best way to learn is to find performances that you like in the presets and then experiment in changing things to see how the sound is affected. There are plenty of free sounds being shared over at Yamaha's Sound Mondo Or there is Yamaha's own shop for paid for expansions. Or Easy Sounds libr...

Re: Just as we 're getting comfortable with Yamaha, Roland and Casio . . .

I agree with Derek that there is something about writing songs with guitar ..it's an organic, creative tool, but I'm learning that keyboard makes them blossom. I remember the first time I heard one of my songs arranged by a keyboard player who could also play guitar. However, I feel that voice blen...

Re: Just as we 're getting comfortable with Yamaha, Roland and Casio . . .

It's good to try and right on a different instrument if you can as it gets you out of a rut. I am mainly a keyboard player who dabbles in guitar, but writing on guitar gave me a completely different approach to writing compared to what I do on keyboards.

Re: Just as we 're getting comfortable with Yamaha, Roland and Casio . . .

I'm the "one guitar with a spare just in case a string breaks" kind of guy. Or I would be if I gigged. At home I have several guitars, all out on stands never hidden away in cases and I play all of them at intervals through the day. They all sound different and feel different to play. I guess my in...

Re: Just as we 're getting comfortable with Yamaha, Roland and Casio . . .

I have always said that for a synth aficionado, it's like a guitar aficionado. Why does Steve Howe gig with loads of guitars instead of just one? (discounting the fact that he can afford guitar roadies and techs to do all of the lugging and setup!). They all make guitar like sounds, but they all hav...

Re: Just as we 're getting comfortable with Yamaha, Roland and Casio . . .

Yup. Vangelis and CS80. Saul, I think the endless rehash argument can apply to all sorts of things. We still buy cars with four wheels and bikes with two wheels, and guitars with six strings, a fretboard, sound board, etc. Apart from shape changes, guitars haven’t evolved much either. ;) So agree th...

Greetings from another (nearly) Welshman, Musician and SCI-FI fan.

With the postfix of 77 on your name, is that referring to a year or a certain Yamaha synth?

Not that I am playing guitar much these days (hopefully will get back into it over Christmas), but +1 for Elixir Nanowebs.
