Re: Got a EX5!

Derek, Agreed - re legacy editors and such, but I'm there anyway for the Expert Editor for th VL. For sure could haggle the seller of the local EX5 on price, but I'm one of those who's not a comfortable haggler... besides, dealing with the size and heft of the keyboard really showed that if I revis...

No worries, I wasn’t certain. Some great pictures. And you at least have an anonymous mention (one of the four) in this hallowed tome. :)

Re: Rick's 70th Birthday - "Journey" at the RFH London

Hi, Chris Don't know if you have seen the latest Prog Magazine issue with the review of the concert? I remember you saying you had been chatting to the journalist from the mag. The review mentions the "original members" from the first Journey concert, and is that your good self just on the right of ...

Re: Got a EX5!

I have that Motif ES Rack AN and PLG combo, and it is capable of some very nice sounds, but the PLG concept is such a PITA to program as you cannot do it from the synth UI (the big plus of the EX5), only from computer based editors. All the editors are legacy (but still just about working the last t...

Re: My latest acquisition: AN1x

Here, you go. Some identical info to what I just posted on another thread, but examples of how the AN1x and SY77 are like peaches and cream (to me). First a very nice combination of the SY77 and AN1x. The SY77 is doing all of the watery and vocal sounds. The AN1x is the brassy, fizzy pad that is kep...

Re: How far did you go with SY77?

The SY77 is a musical chameleon and you can do an awful lot with it, but I agree you need to get beyond the presets and explore the larger sonic universe. It can be very digital sounding, capable of FM sounds that are vastly superior to the DX7, and with filters and effects, or it can be very analog...

Re: MIDI Channels w/ Motif Rack ES and PLG Cards

Happy to help, and of course you can do all sorts of splits ans layers. And to avoid too many button presses and forgetting to enter the right mode, I set my Motif Rack ES to boot into Multi Mode.

Re: No winds?

Hi, I guess it is simply because we do not have that many wind players...... A forum's life blood is its members, so we need people with an interest in a section. :) I have a WX5 myself along with VL technology inside my EX5R and PLG150-VL. I got the WX5 whilst I saw it going on eBay for a good pric...

Re: Do you compose? How? "Where"?

Hi, I'm in a rush right now (need to get back to practise!) but if you google "MIDI chord analyser" you get plenty of hits.

Re: MIDI Channels w/ Motif Rack ES and PLG Cards

Hi, Sorry, I forgot about this last night. I just fired up my Motif Rack ES (not used it for a while) and it is all working as I expect. In Voice Mode, then you can only play a single voice at a time, including the PLG Voices. You access the PLG card voices the same as any other voice bank by...

Re: An1X worn casing print solution?

Hi, I can't really help on the case matter, other than suggest looking out for another one with a better case, so you have one or the other for spares. In terms of sounds, your first port of call should be www.marce-music.com and the free AN1x sounds on there. MarcE is a master patch programmer, who...

Re: My latest acquisition: AN1x

Congratulations, the AN1x remains an awesome synth. Be sure to check out the AN1x patches on marce-music.com With the AN1x of course you are back to SYSEX only for data transfer. You can just about get AN1xEdit working on Windows 10 , or you could check out my an.factory librarian via my signature ...
