Re: Something new announced tomorrow

The announcement is a bit vague. Not sure it is even referring to an update. We'll have to wait and see. It has been a while since the 3.0 update, so would love to see some new features.

Re: Safe From the Storm

Thanks for the feedback, guys. I would say more to come, but it may be a while as with weather like we are having, then I have to be sitting outside! The harp is very good I think, as mentioned above, it showcases the Kronos STR-1 string pluck modelling engine (which is capable of quite a lot more a...

Re: Nord vs Korg vs Yamaha

I think Nord has been there the longest in this market segment and their stage series and others are trying to get in on that format. If you look at TV programs that have a house band (like all those formulaic elimination contests like The Voice, Strictly etc.) you will often see a Nord and Kronos c...

Re: The New Yamaha YC61 Drawbar Organ - NAMM 2020

Yamaha seem to be pretty screwy on MIDI reception lately. The Montage has very severe limitations in this regard as well. It’s like Yamaha assume that you will never want to play one of their fine keyboards from another one..... Well, yes, actually, I might and do!

Re: SY77 ENTER button - MIDI

Hello and welcome. As Rara has already pointed out, you need two way coms for sy.factory to interrogate the synth as first sends a message to the synth (during testing or when requesting a voice from memory, for example) and then expects a response from the synth. So if it does not get one within a ...

Re: Nord vs Korg vs Yamaha

I had a skim through myself out of interest. In the pianos and EPs there is not much to choose from between them, but I felt the Nord had the edge. When it comes to the organs (assuming they were set up the same), then the Nord knocks the crap out of the other two to my ears; it had far more presenc...

Re: Mists of Avalon

Thanks, Paul.

Song starts with just a G# note but goes to an C#m when the chords come in and following by an inverted Amaj (shift the G# note in the chord to an A). After that, I'd need to sit and play it to remember!

Re: How well can you "follow" a score? (just for fun)

TBH, I wouldn't even try. I can read a score VERY SLOOOOOOWLY if I run though EGBDF and FACE to figure out the notes. It must of course be a skill you can acquire with practice just like sight reading words and letters, but I've never had the need. I mostly learn by ear and chord charts.

Re: Export sequences from SY77

Apologies, but I missed the replies from sy77wizard and djazz75. That is not like me.... Not much I can add to djazz75's diagnosis. I have successfully transferred sequencer data from SYs to macs using Focusrite Sapphire or Scarlet interfaces. Something I would need to check again, but it should sti...

Re: How do I export SY.Factory library multis to SY99?

Hi, Thank you for the feedback on sy.factory. I guess you are referring to the fact that there is no export over MIDI of multis from the library. That is correct. It is something that would be easy to do, so why have I not done it? Currently the only thing you can export over MIDI from the library a...

IQ - A Show of Resistance Live Stream

Hi, For any progressive rock fans out there, IQ, a band that has existed under the radar for many years (decades), have just released a live stream of a concert recorded before the lockdown, in lieu of their gigs that were cancelled this weekend. Well worth checking out. They are from the same "neo ...

Thanks for listening, Chris

It is one of those that came very quickly.

I'm currently working on an ambient piece that is even more laid back.

Yes, they do have a couple of other free ones.

I have many of their paid for ones as well and they can be excellent.
