Re: SY77 favorite sounds?

Hi, I ordered mine from eBay several years back, based on a recommendation given on this forum. Whilst I was not planning to do the upgrade a the time, I thought I would grab them whilst they were available. The original seller does not seem to have them now, but if you search for: 100Pcs PCB Moment...

Re: Got a EX5!

Congrats. It too took me a while to find an EX5R as they do not come up often, but I wanted one before I sold my two EX5 synths (main and spare, which made way for a Montage 7 on my bottom tier), as I wanted to keep the EX sound in the studio. Digital IO is not necessary as the analog outs are prett...

Re: Darqilem is here!help for Psr-400 need

Hello and welcome. You do not say what USB to MIDI cable you have, but beware that whilst there are good ones there, there are also ones that are complete rubbish. Do tell us which USB/MIDI interface that you have, and we can go from there. But also, the one problem I can see in your post, is that y...

Re: The MMA releases the MIDI 2.0 specifications.

"No problemo" as I think they currently say! ;) I think you are about 30 years out of date! Seriously, it is good to see MIDI taking step forward. The fact that it remains until recently a 1.0 specification is a huge testament to how right they got it in the first place. Engineering at it...

Re: SY77 favorite sounds?

I do hope that you get your 77s working again. I have not tried a 77 through an external effects unit, but that is why I have an SY99! :) The SY77s were not renowned for the quality of their effects, but I find that certain signature SY77 sounds are too perfect when imported to an SY99, and that is ...

Yes POLARIS was a sound that also jumped out at me when I was spinning through the synth when I first got it back in 2007. Catharsis is also a favourite of mine.

Re: SY77 favorite sounds?

the Wavestation collection I mentioned-is one of the original Soundsource disks I purchased as soon as I had my first SY77-along with Alchemy, B-3 collection and others I could list-some pretty amazing sounds on those first disks, and one of the original programmers I will give credit to who create...

Re: SY77 favorite sounds?

Hi, The SY77 is an amazing chameleon for its age. When I first got mine, I was amazed at how a 90s digital workstation could also sound so analog. Yamaha equipped it with what is still one of the best sounding digital filters, and quite often the analog sounding patches are actually digital FM eleme...

Re: SY77 favorite sounds?

Way too many too mention, but my favourite is EchoHunters - an SY77 interpretation of the classic Wavestation patch, but much better IMO You can hear it as the keyboard intro sounds in this "little" song of mine (the Itopia type vocal sound and the "tinkles" are different elements, which I split out...

Re: About Electric Pianos, Rhodes...

Hi,

The names of samples in sample and synthesis instruments such as the MODX tend to be generic to avoid copyright issues, so unless you have a true Rhodes expert who can just tell a model from listening to it, then I think it is not easy to answer.

Hi, I am not a Bob Marley or Reggae fan, so do not know the song in question, but if you post a link to a recording or video of the song, I will take a listen when I get time (do not expect a quick response as I am swamped right now, but I will try over the weekend if time permits. Reproducing a tru...

Re: Need help with converting ES voice file to XS/XF format ..

My bad. I missed the user sample aspect. The conversion I did was for libraries using ROM samples, as the ES rack had no user sample capacity. Assuming there is no friendly person with the required Motif who can help.... My first question is that whilst Yamaha's process does not support user ...
