Re: SY77 foot pedal for sequencer start/stop

Hi, Can't say I've ever seen that as an option on the SY. Not sure if it would respond to MMC messages either. Would need to dig....

Re: Kronos will not read my TX 802 Sys Ex files

.syx, .mid would be good ones to allow. .zip is fine for any file, and compressing is kind on your server and bandwidth as well :) After that it could get a very long list if we were to think of all the available file extensions. I think a slightly different question is why limit the file type just ...

Re: AN1xEdit on Windows 10

Hi, Ah, now that rings a bell from a long time ago! (12+ years) I have had a MOTU MIDI Express 128 (same but without the SMPTE sync) since 2006, and I had issues with my x.factory librarians sending SYSEX data to synths when I switched to this interface. Things had been working fine with the previou...

Re: AN1xEdit on Windows 10

Hi, Based on your description, I would suspect the MIDI interface as described above by Chris and Miks When MIDI problems are reported to me regarding my x.factory Librarians, 99% of the time it is due to these $10 USB MIDI leads. A typical MIDI message is only 1-3 bytes in length and the cheap inte...

Re: Kronos will not read my TX 802 Sys Ex files

Hi I will need to check when I am back home, but I think the compatibility is DX7 SYSEX only, and maybe the Kronos does not like the extra TX data. Not only will it have additional DX7II dumps (as well as vanilla DX7 data) but it might have 8 times the amount? If you can post or link to an example, ...

That being said, I think that their modern songs blow today's pop consumer music out of the water.

Nice looking headphones, and thanks to Paul for asking the dumb question. I would have been clueless on it without research!

Re: Sound Design Question #2: Roxette "The Look"

Hmmm. Haven’t listened to Roxette for years. They were very good at “power pop”. Used to have their first two albums. Not sure where to start on sounds, I would need to go back and listen. As they were a late 80s band, then I would guess the sounds were a combination of DX7 FM sounds and the analog ...

Re: AN1xEdit on Windows 10

Hi, Dave, and welcome. The AN1x and TG77 are fine synths. I have both. :D I agree with your caution. I am away from home for a few days, so away from my gear, so cannot help on specifics for a few days. If I were you I would save off the data in your synth before doing anything else. You should be a...

Re: A Sky Full Of Stars - Coldplay (cover)

Nice job MFrost . . . . The Genos sounds good here. Very refined interpretation . . . However did you manage to isolate the vocal from THEIR mix? parametric Not sure how the OP did it in this case, but there is some pretty clever software these days for vocal extraction from a mix. It is rarely art...

Re: how to load large files *.s1a, *.s1y to EX5

Strange that an A3000 should be as expensive as an EX5, as nobody wants 20 year old samplers these days , compared with the power of sampling on a computer using software like Kontakt ........... I got my A3000 that I needed as a donor for the PSU for £60. ex.factory can read/write any EX5 file form...

Re: Thalia Capo First impressions

The Thalia Capo comes with a pack of rubber or teflon inserts that are a different radius for various guitars. They also come in standard and high tension versions. Literally takes seconds to remove and snap another into place. Not had any tuning problems so far and have tested on 5 very different ...

Re: Thalia Capo First impressions

Interesting story. What is it like regarding pressure? I found that "simple" clamp capos like this sometimes put too much pressure on the strings and bend them out of tune. I tend to use SHUBB C1 capos where you can adjust the pressure

Re: Tony Iommi’s riff on Black Sabbath’s classic 1975 track is voted the greatest of all time?

I agree. He is a brilliant guitar player for the genre, but I could go for 1000s of riffs in my subjective opinion which would be my personal best of all time before I got around to Tony. :)
