Re: Keyboard User Memory - Should it be larger these days?

Likewise, I don't see streaming as a workaround. It is a working solution that means you don't need much expensive FLASH and can make use of the higher storage capacity of SSD. The Kronos "only" uses an INTEL ATOM processor, so is a model of design efficiency. It holds its own today, despite being o...

Re: Keyboard User Memory - Should it be larger these days?

Of course you don't have to have ALL of the samples in memory to play them back. The problem is that this is the basic architecture of most ROMPLERS, Montage and MODX included. Fully accept what you are saying about sample based VSTIs, and this is where Kronos is also showing its background as bein...

I was kind guessing that they have USB in mind as well. Interesting diagrams, as well!

Such concepts cannot be rushed out.

Re: Keyboard User Memory - Should it be larger these days?

Of course you are absolutely right and the distinction between "memory" and "storage" is important. The reasons Steve gave for not having larger user "memory" is absolutely valid. Why keyboards do not generally have larger amounts of "storage" on the other hand is a bit of a mystery. You forget the...

Re: Is there a simple Foot Switch that can be used to Change Scenes on Modx?

Looks an interesting floor board, which I may check out some time, but my FC300 is still king for me! If you already have FC300 this is unlikely to benefit you. But for someone who is yet to purchase you can get all the same feature's here for less then half the price. With the additional expandabi...

Not cheap, but built like a tank. Mine is 10 years old, and going strong.

I would agree with John. The fact that they got MIDI right in the first place has meant it has not had to evolve at a rapid pace, but lots of useful extensions have been added over the years. :)

Re: The dark side of the SY99 (black LCD mod)

Don't forget the upgrades describe different display technologies over the years and they have different needs. If you are doing the mod proposed here, then DrF's guidance should be extant. The purpose of providing my guides here are to show you how on earth to get to the display in an SY99! :D

Re: The dark side of the SY99 (black LCD mod)

By the way, when you get a chance, attach to this thread a link to your guide so that anyone trying the mod will have access to your information as well to avoid damaging their synthesizers. DrF Here you go: My Guides Page has guides for SY77 (based on DrF's original SY99 work shown on EX5Tech) SY9...
