Re: A terrible wrong step!

The story of the Cree Indians is certainly one of the most vile I've heard about. These practices were not confined to Ireland either. more and more gradually comes to light right across Europe. Christianity, I'm sure, is not the only religion involved. One only has to look at what went on in Britis...

Re: A terrible wrong step!

So sorry to hear of your injury, Purcell. The state of the world today! Hmm. In order to attempt to create a more homogenous society, Canada decided to take the children of the Cree indians and educate them in a more modern, 'enlightened' way. Thousands of children were sent to residential schools. ...

Re: Happy Birthday parametric (Chris)

Another one who missed the day!
Sorry about that Chris ... too wrapped up in my own personal issues, I imagine.

Anyway, a belated many happy returns of the day from me and the Missus.

Kindest regards,
JohnG.

Here's the reference to the sale of stock.

Now, of course, it could be a sheer co-incidence. Ho-ho-ho! And I'm a monkey's uncle.

Re: Major flaw found in Intel processors!

As far as I can see, at the moment, this is in addition to the Spectre flaw. Could be wrong tho'. If I've correctly interpreted what I've read, then this is a fundamental flaw in the way that kernel memory can be accessed. Linux are calling the fault F.U.C.K.W.I.T. If I'd known there was a flaw woul...

Major flaw found in Intel processors!

Just read an article in The Register, it's on the BBC news channel too, that a major design flaw has been found on all Intel processors dating back ten years or more to date! https://www.theregister.co.uk/2018/01/04/intel_meltdown_spectre_bugs_the_registers_annotations/ [url}https://www.theregister....

Re: Et Tu Brute? Yamaha EMX2 (made in China)

The idea behind the TV licence fee was in order to get advertisement FREE channels. If you've never experienced TV channels with no interruptions from the increasingly pathetic, soul numbing adverts that are around, especially just before Christmas, you may not know what paradise can be. They're so ...

Re: CVP 701 Midi recording question.

Regarding the GM tuning RPN I mentioned, it's one of two such: "Fine Tuning" (RPN 0-1) lets you adjust the overall tuning of the instrument in fractional cents. Each increment or decrement changes the tuning by 100/8192 cents-- i.e., 1/8192 semitones. The range is from 100/8192*(-8192) cents to 100...

Re: CVP 701 Midi recording question.

After a very quick glance at the file I don't see any "key change" messages, nor transpose, in fact nothing really that gives the game away that a transpose key has been used. Just that the chords change from measure 13/14 it would seem, up a tone. So now I see a C major (in the accompaniment) inste...

Re: CVP 701 Midi recording question.

Thanks Michael, and Caroline. Yes, I'm aware of the Tuning message, but strictly speaking that isn't a transpose message, it's to retune an instrument to the pitch of acoustic instruments that one might be playing alongside, assuming they're not pitched to A=440Hz. The drum pitch message is again to...

Re: Clavinova CVP 701 Review

You've scrapped both grand children? ??? Oh no, I misread that ... it's the PSR and the Roland. Phew! Great review tha...

Re: Et Tu Brute? Yamaha EMX2 (made in China)

Well I'm 57 in a few days John ... 57! ONLY fifty-seven? I've almost forgotten what it was like to be that young! Still a good way away from retirement. Not yet getting the governmental heating supplement. I've still a little longer to wait for the free TV licence, but slowing down, definitely slow...

Re: CVP 701 Midi recording question.

Thanks Caroline, I'd be really interested to see what the 701 actually does and, if anyone else is interested, I could post a summary here too, once I've analysed the file. But there's no rush, I'm about to jet off to Bonn for a few days visiting relations and friends over there, but I'll be home in...

Re: CVP 701 Midi recording question.

Excellent result Caroline, so pleased that there's a solution. What I'd be very interested to know is, just how is the MIDI file processed to achieve the end result. Hence, is it at all possible for you to post the transposed MIDI file and let us know where in the file your transpose settings are ma...
