Re: Discover The Expressive E Osmose
From all the demo videos I've seen this will be quite interesting, and the EaganMatrix sound engine is pretty cool. Should interface well with Sculpture within Logic. Roli boards don't quite do it for me because of how playing the rubbery surface feels, but the same level of multi control stream imp...

Re: How do you transfer floppy disks to a MacBook?
The old VST Tecnologies USB Floppy drive for the original CRT Candy colored iMacs (model FDUSB-M) is what I use to read both 720K and 1.44M floppys from my SY99, DX7II and VL1 into my Mac running El Capitan (OS 10.11.6) It is ...Slow.... also while it will read/write the 1.44M HD floppy's, it will o...

Re: Yamaha VP1 Harmonics
Followup on the history of the US Prototype VP1 Unit -- the Boddicker / MJ unit that Dave Polich used for some preset voicing. This unit circulated for quite a while, actually spending two stints with Scott Kinsey, along with some time with Nate Tschetter of Yamaha. Scott mentioned to me that he was...

Re: AfterTouch Manny Fernandez DX7II Performances
The top box contains the performance parameters. The bottom two contain patch data. These both use unison poly mode, very thick and you only have 4 voices. Both are great patches. That's correct. There's a Performance name, and the Voice names of the actual sounds -- The Performance just references...

Re: Yamaha VP1 Harmonics
Daniel, I know you don't necessarily come by here often, so I also sent you emails -- I desperately could use a copy of those VP1 documents and softwares! I'm trying to help Reinhold resolve some issues with his VP1 here in Los Angeles. RE: editing software for VP1 -- when I worked on the early prot...

Re: DX7: Need help on programming a particular patch
Leo, Shouldn't be to difficult -- first a few questions... Any effects on this recording i.e chorus, reverb, etc.? I assume by your description the tremolo is built in to the sound - do you remember if it was controlled by the mod wheel? Was there any intrinsic detuning or chorus like character to t...

VL1m / VL7 Version 2 EPROM Images?
So,
Does anyone have the EPROM Images of the Version 2 firmware for the VL1m or VL7?
I have them for the VL1 keyboard.
You'll need two TI TMS27C040-10 or equivalent EPROMs

Re: Got a EX5!
Thanks, Manny So it was hiding in plain sight all along! :) VL sure is amazing technology, as was AN and FDSP, FM, etc. Which (not withstanding no FM, but I had my DX7II at the time) is what attracted me to the EX5 in 1999. Couple that with the AN1x, VL1, VL70m and the FS1r, and it must have been q...

Re: NAMM 2019 - The Secret Yamaha Synth Room
So the podcast from the SynthSpace room I did back in April finally is online: https://soundcloud.com/yamahasynth/bts004 Yamaha just started posting the entire series about 3 weeks ago. This one is FM / SY99 topics I'm going back in Sept. to do one on the VL1, and had fun spending the weekend gettin...

Re: Got a EX5!
Derek, Here ya go. Still available from the WindSynth.net site.. VL70m editor For Win98, IIRC vled-all.zip BTW -- With the Motif EX Rack on its way I spent Friday night and half of Saturday getting my old Pismo G3 powerbook all back up and running with 9.2.2 with the original VL editors. Ugh -- OMS,...

Re: Got a EX5!
Derek,
I think you are referring the one done by the WindList guys and that used to be available through Patchman?
Don't have it (no Windows for me back then...I had the 'real' editors) but I have the contact info around here somewhere for the dev's... I'll keep you posted.

Re: Got a EX5!
RE: Expert editors VL1 or VL70? I do have both ... Rememebr, need OS9 bootable MAc plus OMS. If you need for the VL70m and/or PLG's / EX5 , you should strongly consider the current VL70 Wiz by Rudy Verpale as it runs on the current OS's. Rudy is good a guy, I put him in touch with Yamaha back in the...

Re: Got a EX5!
Derek, Agreed - re legacy editors and such, but I'm there anyway for the Expert Editor for th VL. For sure could haggle the seller of the local EX5 on price, but I'm one of those who's not a comfortable haggler... besides, dealing with the size and heft of the keyboard really showed that if I revisi...
