MOXF8 Sampling...

Unread post by leoleo456 » Fri Aug 31, 2018 9:40 am

hi guys,

I know MOXF8 has sampling options,
but thing I don't understand is:

Is it capable of loading WAV sample on (for example) note C3 and then it is spread out on whole keyboard?

Tnx

It is very simple to learn if you pratice it too.
I can explain more if you are not able to do so but realy, it wouldn't be that helpfull then a little pratice.

I'm not certain, since I've never used a MOXF, but I believe you could do it either way-- load one sample and spread it out across the entire keyboard, or load several samples that are each assigned to specific ranges of keys and/or velocities.

Just to be clear though. The MOXF doesn't have on-board sampling like the XF. It CAN load samples of course but that's very different from "user sampling". Also loading anything via the flash card takes forever..or feels like it so be prepared for a long wait.

tnx, guys.
i know it can only LOAD samples. i allready have sampled instruments. just wanted to be clear:
if i load wav of one note and place it on C3, does moxf expand it on other keys C#,D,D#,.... like Kontakt or other samplers.....
i don't need one-shot sampling for some kind of fx's or something....

i hope you get what i mean....

I don't have a MOXF8 but one note sample will/can never sound good for a whole range of keys.
The MOXF8 will spread this but at any other key then the original note frequency you will hear the sound is different more and more, the further you went away from the original note placed at C3. To prevent that you must take/make a second sample for example at C2 and put that on C2 and so on everywhere on the keyboard, where you experience bad sounding.

I guess what the OP asks for is whether or not the moxf is capable of "laying out"/transpose a C3 (sample) across the entire keyboard range.

I highly doubt that. I did such an exercise last year on three different instruments (and data from others in italics) but yet not for the moxf (i have to try that i think):

So, maybe not very relevant but perhaps interesting still?

Unit notes up notes down
Korg Triton +12 - -36
Akai S5000 +24 -48
Roland XV5080 +24 -39

Prophet 3000:
48kHz, 44.1kHz, 32kHz: +9/-24 semitones
16kHz: +24/-12 semitiones

Studio 440:
42kHz: +7/-24 semitones
31kHz, 16kHz: +12/-19 semitones

Sorry to bump and old post but this is exactly my question at the moment.

I have a sample and can install it onto the keyboard but speed of the modulation within the voice differs a lot when you go up and down the keys.

Is there somewhere anyone knows about that I can be directed to to solve this? I can make 4 separate samples for the 4 different keys I need to use but would be nice if there is a more elegant solution.

Thanks for reading.

Is it possible to sample the sound without any modulation, and then have the MOXF apply modulation to the voice afterward?

I've just worked out how to do it on the pc and send it over to the keyboard. None of this stuff was easily available last time I played 25 years ago the potential is huge. I'm like a kid in a sweet shop at the moment :D
