CLP-645, smart pianist in android, import MIDI and display score.

Unread post by kostbill » Wed Mar 11, 2020 11:19 am

Hello,
I want to buy a clavinova, I know nothing about music, it is not for me, so forgive my ignorance.

I would like to buy the CLP-645, the most important function I would like it to have is:
- OS on notebook: Android.
- Import MIDI files to the smart pianist (one may alter the MIDI file from a PC before importing it).
- Open the MIDI files in the smart pianist and display the score. Just like it does with the songs that are already there, so it should wait for the pianist until the right keys are pressed.

Is it doable with the CLP-645?

I found this:
https://hub.yamaha.com/using-dropbox-to ... d-tracker/
but it does not specify if it can be done with Android or if it can be done with the CLP-645.

I also found this:
https://download.yamaha.com/files/tcm:3 ... 1583323142

In this table, you can see that the "Guide (MIDI Song)" is not supported on the CLP-645, but is this the feature I am asking for?

But also, the "Playback, FF, Rewind" -> "(MIDI Song)" is supported in the CLP-645. Is this the feature I am asking for?

So, can anyone help here?
Thanks!

Hello, nothing?

I mean, if I cannot get an answer here, where can I ask?

Today I went to a shop that sells these, but their firmware on the CLP-645 was not updated and could not recognize my Samsung tablet.

I know it can be done at the CSP-170.

I'm not familiar with either model-- or with any Clavinova models-- but you say it can be done with the CSP-170? If that is correct, then I'm wondering whether comparing the documentation for the CLP-645 and CSP-170 might provide an answer?

Looking at the information about the Smart Pianist app on the Yamaha website, it appears to indicate that the Android version of Smart Pianist isn't compatible with the CLP-645.

It's a little confusing, because below the first chart is a second chart which seems to suggest that it is compatible-- but I'm thinking that the second chart must be talking about whether the listed keyboard models are compatible with the operating systems in general, rather than whether they're compatible with the two different versions of Smart Pianist.

Hi,
I think that a year ago or so, they updated the firmware so that it is compatible with android OS.
Thanks for the answer.
