Eric, when you say your trying to wire it, is this a new foot switch you have made or one that stopped working?

I'm no electronics guru but I would have thought there should be another wire going from the foot switch to the plug socket, soldered to that bottom of the three connections otherwise there is no way to complete the circuit?

It appears to be a jack socket, DPDT switch and an LED in a holder. To make this work properly you need to add a battery holder (2x AA or 2x AAA should do) and a resistor in order the light the LED when the switch is latching. If you are still interested I could draw little lines on your photo to show the circuit you need.

Text copied from the Yamaha T-50/T-50c/T-100/T-100c manual:

Footswitch Jack: This is where you will connect the cable going to your footswitch.
You may use either a shielded (guitar) cable, or an unshielded (speaker) cable.
Also note; should you ever lose/misplace or forget your YAMAHA footswitch,
any "latching" (switch to ground) type of footswitch will work.
