Yes, soak the pot with cleaning fluid, and exercise it by turning it up and down about 50 times to release dirt on the coal tracks.
With a bit of luck, that will remove the thunder crashes. (your circuits should be fine.)

Great collection and pics. I am currently working on a TA-60 and need a good close up picture of the reverb double pot. The upper mount flange came loose most likely due to trying to remove a stubborn knob. this resulted in a wobbly double pot bouncing around for years. With the exception of the jumper on the bottom pot and the orange wire on the center tab of the top pot, everything else has broken off. The schematics are vague on what color wire goes where...so can you help me out?
