Rattling THR10C

Unread post by pzz5jp » Thu Apr 12, 2018 3:56 pm

Hi Newbie here!

Just got a second hand THR10C delivered today and noticed a rattle inside. Check out the pictures to see what I found!

The seller insists it works find and didn't rattle when it was shipped ?!?!? Anyway, looking at the PCB board bit, it doesn't look important, but I don't understand enough about it to be sure.

Can anyone offer any advice? I've emailed Yamaha to see what they say.

Thanks in advance for any help :-)

Hello and welcome!
The bottom photo shows an "old baby". An "very old baby"?
Would be interesting to know what you paid for it. To assess what you can lose at all. In the worst case.

In germany a new THR10C costs +/- 260 - 280 €!

"Rattle" ? ... can you describe that in more detail? More details on "Rattle" are helpful.
What is rattling where and how loud? A loose screw, a loose cable, ... it always rattles? ...
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"The seller insists it works fine and didn't rattle when it was shipped ?!?!?"
Now find out the truth - there!

Best way: RETURN TO SENDER!
If possible: Immediate return! :!:

All this reminds me: "seller sells a defective ebay item!" ...a neverending story!
eBay Buyer Protection is just made for that! MONEY BACK! without a problem!

Good luck! Others - from this forum - will surely answer you as well.

Welcome to the forum and the string section. :D

First and most important, does the amp function and sound ok now ?

Seeing this is a first for me, if the amp works ok, the piece of PCB board is probably not from your THR-10C,
but could have been placed there by sellers kid or anyone else who just put it in there for kicks.

If the rattle is gone and the amp runs satisfactory it's no biggie, even though it's odd to find a piece of PCB board there.
Otherwise, send it back. After all, you've bought it as a working unit.

Feel free to let us know what you do and how you deal with this issue.

Best Regards
Peter

thanks all for replied, yeah works fine, as far as I can tell. I've looked at circuit diagrams and can't locate the piece of board, so all a bit odd! I do notice a slight high pitched noise when turning up the master volume but can't see how it's related! Great little amp.

Now that your amp is up and running, you may consider to use the patch library and download som patches for your THR-1C viewtopic.php?p=56102#p56102
