THR10 Synth Patches

Unread post by will1993 » Sun Jun 09, 2019 5:40 pm

Hello!

This might be a stupid question and a misunderstanding of how the editor/amp work, but is it possible to get psychedelic synth-like patches for the THR10?

Thanks

Hi will,
if you mean using some kind of sampling, no, it is not possible. The THR Editor just allow you to set the parameters of each amp effect: reverb, delay, noise gate, compression, etc. But you can access some parameters or parameter values that you can not access from the amp's knobs. For example, you can push the reverb far beyond the 2.7s maximum you can obtain with the knob. And by pushing parameters beyond their usual values, you can obtain weird sounds or ambiance...

Hi Will, welcome to the forum :)

As our friend 314159 mentioned, the THR editor is not really designed to give you the sort of sounds you might be looking for, although definitely you CAN come up with some weird combos by pushing things past their normal range.

If you want more synth type sounds I think you will need to look to external effects for that. There are some great pedals out there which can make your guitar sound more synth like. I am thinking here of pedals such as the OMEC Teleport which is an amazing little bit of kit. Check it out in the video below.

Ok it's not THR specific or even Yamaha for that matter, it's made by Orange but I couldn't help mentioning it as I think it could do what you need in terms of synth type sounds from a guitar?

And for something really out there check out the Colour Theory by Alexander Pedals

Hi Will, welcome to the forum and the string section. :D

THR amps can emulate a great number of amps and playing styles including effects, but entirely made for guitar sounds.
You can get a decent psychedelic guitar FUZZ, but no synth.

If you want your guitar to sound like key instruments you need a pedal like synth9 from Electro Harmonix.

Electro Harmonix also made simulators like the B9 organ machine and a few more.
