Head Recommendations - Beech Customs Absolute

Unread post by Bish1309 » Tue Sep 11, 2018 7:54 pm

Anyone have some good suggestions for the type of batter heads to use on Beech Customs Absolute?

My band plays classy rock n roll.

My kit has 10, 12, 13, MT and 16, 18 FT.

I'm currently running clear G2's on the batters and G1's on the resos. They are ok but not tripping my trigger.

Thanks for your suggestions.

Hi Bish

As you probably know, I am not a drummer although I have a passing interest in electronic drums, just never had room for a kit. We do have some drummers on the forum so perhaps they will be able to chime in here with suggestions. I did also pass this on to a friend in the drum division at Yamaha so he may also have some suggestions.

Just wanted you to know we do read all posts but don't always have an answer, at least not straight away.

Got an answer from Yamaha about this...sorry it took so long and this info may be something you already know yourself but....
It really depends on the sound they want to achieve. Thicker heads are more durable but reduce the sustain, thinner heads give a brighter, more attack tone but can dent easily. Coated heads are always a good option to add some warmth to the drums. Also, different brand drum heads sound different. It all adds up to personal choice or knowing what sound you want to achieve. I would say a Coated single ply Top head with a Clear single bottom head will give you the best of both worlds and would work well on Beech Shells.
I wish I knew more about drums and could offer more help.

We need more drum info on the forum. Yamaha drums are incredibly popular. Seems a shame not to have a drum section here. Will have to give it some thought.

I am hoping Jesse is through the worst of it. My niece lives in NC so they have been going through the same things. All safe and well I am happy to say.
