Yeah,

the .zip contains a file called FACTORY_SET.G01

That is the Factory Set.

The Disk itself is called Factory Set - so you should probably do a Disk>Load>ALL

Can't remember what the SYN file is, but the PAT file is probably patterns for the Drumkit . . . .

Handy to have them in sysex format for those who's floppy drive is not working. It's a slower way to do things and you need a good quality midi interface but definitely doable :)

Hello and a big thanks to all the knowledge gathered here.
Especially resources like dl and floppy emulator installation.

Now that I have installed my floppy emulator I am a bit stuck on how to deal with the floppy Images.

To exact how do i unpack the .G01 file format or is there a direct way to convert to . Img.

Thanks for any help

I don't use emulators, I Imagine it works like this ... anyone correct if I am wrong
insert USB stick into computer.
copy *.G01 file into directory on USB stick (directory can not have more than 720Kb of files in it)
put usb stick into emulator select the directory you put file into
load file via menu on sy85

Thanks Rara,
problem is the . Gxx file system is not a very common
and in a this case unsupported file format.

Once I can extract the files from the .Gxx container I know how to convert the files to a .img.

Its not common because its a yamaha file format for the SY85
like *.Txx is for the SY77

I wasn't saying that, to convert anything, *.Gxx is a specific file format for the SY85 and only readable by SY85.

If you can see the file in windows explorer, just dump the file as is into a directory (eg x:\001) on the usb stick - simple as that.

I don't know what emulator you're using, emulators I have encountered
read the file(s) as is, no converting. Being true to there word, 'emulate'

Hello, I loaded the factory set.Go1 via 'Disk All' to my SY85 but the banks of sounds is partially different from the list appears at the 'YAMAHA SY85 OWNER'S MANUAL 2' I obtain - Do you know the reason? Also, I don't understand for which VOICES banks corresponds 'INITIAL VOICE LIST 1-4' (pages 306- 309 on the MANUAL), I have on the SY85 VOICE > Internal 1 or 2 but not the 3 and 4 what is the difference between selecting Internal banks and the Initial voices listed in the Manual? Thanks

Hello again, I managed to solve the question I just sent regarding the difference in voices and selecting the VOICE 4 banks - I read the explanation on page 22 of the OWNER MANUAL 1
Thanks
