Really like this video. I think it shows off the C.Bechstein in Pianoteq 6 just perfectly. Of course it helps that Phil Best is a superb pianist ;)

It is very good, show casing a fine pianist (dang, I wish I could play like that!) and how sweet Pianoteq can be.

May I be permitted to say, this is why modelling is the way to go! :)

I know what you mean Derek. He is a superb pianist and to think, a lot of what he does is improvisation 8O If I had a fraction of his skills I would be a very happy chap indeed :)

I agree totally about modelling and Pianoteq. It really is a superb piece of software.

Thanks so much for the nice comments! You're too kind! Improvisation is an organic process for me, so if it's to work at all, the piano I'm playing needs to have a "living, breathing" quality, just like an acoustic instrument. Pianoteq has this and this Bechstein is amazing... A joy to play!

Hi Phil

A very warm welcome to the forums, great to have you here :)

That C.Bechstein does indeed sound wonderful but I was wondering, there is a Bechstein in Pianoteq 5 so is this a new piano model in version 6 or an upgraded one?

Hi, Phil and welcome.

I am a late starter in life to keyboards, so will never have those sort of chops, but it doesn't stop me admiring people who do. I love Rick Wakeman, but could never be in a Yes tribute band. I am more Rick Wright than Rick Wakeman, which probably explains why I am in a Pink Floyd tribute band! :D

Seriously, I am really impressed with your playing, and it show cases Pianoteq quite nicely. As mentioned above I am more a fan of modelling than sample based instruments, and Pianoteq have really cracked it, I think for piano realism. We are blessed to be living in an age where modelling can know accurately reproduce all sorts of classic instruments without the maintenance nightmare (or the weight!)

A Warm Welcome Sir!

I totally agree with you about improvisation.

When you sit at a Piano that "Makes you Smile" (As I like to think of it) when you play it, you can just close your eyes and go for it - and every Piano is different of course - even multiples of the same Make/Model . .

A friend of mine has a vintage Bechstein that I play every time I visit - a complete joy . . .

The weighted keybed Synths are also SO different - so the same applies really (IMO).

My current go-to is my Alesis Fusion 8HD - which has a Fatar bed, described as "fully-weighted" . . .
