Latest News from ChickenSytems - SCSI-SD Drives

Unread post by parametric » Fri Jun 28, 2019 1:42 am

ChickenSystems make a number of interesting products, However, my experiences have not been good . . .

They specialise in conversion software for samplers . . . a subject which is generally of great interest for

those using or wishing to use samples.

The story so far:

When I bought my Alesis Fusion 8HD, Alesis provided a free download of a program called Fusion Convertor -

which would enable you to create Fusion Banks from a whole host of other formats inc. .sf2, akai and many

others. This worked quite well, I have used it successfully . . .

CS announced they were reworking it as Fusion Creator (in line with a number of other Creator products they

made, notably for Motif, Korg, Fantom and Kurzweil).

The Fusion Creator was released after around 2 years of promises - and the "AutoSample" feature that I was

particularly interested in was incomplete.

The AutoSample feature enables you to sample an entire Bank from a synth, specifing the number of notes,

the range covered etc. and does the whole thing under computer control. After each Voice/Performance

is sampled, the SW advances to the next instance and repeats the process - You click <OK> and walk away

In the last update I checked, it was still incomplete - additionally, there were various other "oddities",

such as the user manual making references to the "Korg Creator" in the text, plus the online videos reported

ACCESS DENIED or unavailable.

So I gave up on it. (I did notice that some of the vids are on YT if you can be bothered to look for them).

I report the following news, as I know some of you have SCSI equipped gear - and these SCSI-SD drives

may be of interest . . .

Thanks for sharing that information.

That said, I believe it is not difficult to find much less expensive alternatives than "only $99.95!!!" !!!
