Yamaha P-121 issue: Sustain pedal active while playing LH-Bass

Unread post by Manolios » Thu Sep 12, 2019 8:06 am

Hi there,

I’ve recently purchased an P-121, very good sounding and convenient for „small gigs „ , rehearsals etc., since I don‘t want to haul my CP4 on every ocassion. Problem is, since I play a lot of LH-bass, the sustain pedal seems to be active also on the left voice in split mode. Is there a way I can turn the sustain pedal off for the left part?

Thanks!
Best,

Hello Manolios,

It could probably be done through MIDI by filtering sustain pedal messages for the bass part. This would require computer/tablet/phone with appropriate software (ask google: midi filter router app).

Have you contacted Yamaha with this problem? (For reference P-255 lets you specify where to apply sustain - the function is called Damper pedal range, but I could not find anything related in the P-121/P-125 docs.)

Regards,
Michał
