Using my psr e 463 as a midi to my pc need help

Unread post by Idkhowtokeyboard » Sun Mar 10, 2019 10:33 pm

I connected my keyboard to fl studio and i want to play the samples from fl, but when i try to play it plays the sample sound and the sound already loaded in the keybaord itself. Is there anyway to turn the sound from the keybaord off and just play the sample sound from fl studio on the keyboard. I am new to the psr and really need help

I apologize if this doesnt make since and is worded wierd. I am on mobile and have never used this site before. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Hi Idkhowtokeyboard,

welcome to the YamahaMusicians forum (Y)

Please see page 68 of the user manual -> MIDI -> Local Control

If you turn the Local Control function to OFF the keyboard's internal sound generation is switched OFF - but the keyboard still 'produces' MIDI messages (note on/off, pitch, portamento, modulation and so on) to control your FL Studio software.

If you want the PSR itself to sound again simply set the Local Control back to ON. Hope this helps

No, MP3 audio files can't be converted into MIDI data files.

You should be able to play the MP3 file on another device-- phone, tablet, laptop, computer, etc.-- and connect that device to the PSR-E453 using an audio cable so the sound will come out of the PSR-E453's speakers.

But you can't convert it to MIDI.

Technically speaking you can convert an MP3 or any audio file to MIDI...not through the PSR of course. However the results are going to be pretty awful because unlike something recorded direct to MIDI you have no way of separating out the individual tracks and instruments. If it were just one instrument playing it might sound passable..I doubt it.

Keep in mind when you play an MP3 through the PSR it is not the PSR's sound engine generating any sounds. The PSR is just acting as a playback device and is intended for you to either just listen to the music or play along with it. Nothing else.

in any case you can usually find proper midi files of most popular songs...and probably thousands of less popular songs online and for free.
