NO KIDDING!!!

If my husband gets me flowers, they'd better be in a pot so I can plant them outside!

I'm not typical though and a lot of women love them.
I dunno, I have mixed feelings about them.
"Honey, these are a symbol of my love....."
(The flowers sit on the table while the the petals eventually shrivel up and drop off...)
However, in some cases it's kind of prophetic.

But I like chocolates, that's for sure!!

Actually, Andy and I give each other gifts like personal bear spray for hiking or I got us both shin guards so that we can rock-hound in rattlesnake country..

But those probably wouldn't be good gift ideas.

Nice one, Chris.

My better half said one of the sweetest things yesterday as we were standing at the check-out, having seen the man before us paying for a large bunch of red roses (and a bottle of whisky). I'd joked with him that the flowers were for her, the whisky for him.

When the check out lady (very civilized, we were at Waitrose) asked what we were doing to celebrate St. Valentine's day my wife said:

"No need, it's like Valentine's day every day at our house!"
What's even stranger, from the way she said it, is that I believe she meant it too!

(I had actually bought flowers the week before, though.)

Believe me, most women won't say something like that unless they mean it. Props for you! She's a lucky lady.
(I am too.. and it's been 44 years).

Shelly,
(... and I'm a lucky man)
Forgive me for being out of touch, but what does "props for you" mean? :?:

In British English a prop is something that, for instance, holds up a wall that is in danger of falling down. ;)
Despite my advancing years, I'm still able to get around without a walking stick!
