Roland MV30 FDD replacement

Unread post by squishmusic »

I've come into possession of a Roland MV-30 Studio-M
It has a ancient 3.5" FD and Im curious to know:
- does one of these 'gotek' style USB/SD drives exist for it? there are very scant resources online for the MV30.
- also, if there are any MV30 owners - past or present - lurking in here?

Cheers
S

I know nothing of the MV30, however I wonder if they use
the same form of floppy drive as the D-20? (the only Roland synth with floppy I know about)
D-20 floppy drive was propriety, based on apple DD drives IIRC.

Thanks for that input. I acquired another Roland synth now, so looking to sell this on.

These were the worst of the worst from that era. Disks written with them can ONLY be read by THAT DRIVE - IIRC

They used a system of variable speed across the disk - so NONE of the usual disk utilities (e.g. Sydex) can unscramble them.

Good luck to the next owner. However, the FDD is in perfect working order (needs to be to load the OS) - that is the major downer of this unit. If the FDD fails its a big doorstop.
