Yamaha W5 - no sound

Unread post by richardjmoon »

I have an old Yamaha W5 keyboard that had been working fine, but after a couple of years sitting in the basement I cannot get any sound out of it. I plugged in my headphones and hear nothing. I did a factory reset which seemed to complete okay. But no change. Volume slider is up. I have fiddled around with Song mode and Voice mode. Set to different types of piano instruments ... nothing!

I feel like either I am missing something stupid, or it is broken and I should trash it. Any clues would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Richard

Hi Richard,

a warm welcome to the forum (Y)

Maybe the W5 has previously been used as a master keyboard and someone had set 'Local' to OFF'?

Please refer to page 148 of the user manual how to eventually set 'Local' back to ON...

Hope this helps...

Atb,
Miks

Miks,

Unfortunately that did not do the trick. I think the factory reset ensured that Local was set to "ON". I played around with it, but no luck. Clever idea though. I appreciate you taking the time.

Richard
