I plan to get one of the following 2 options:

A. 'Shure WH20XLR Dynamic Headset Microphone' with a 'Shure A85F Transformer'
https://www.shure.com/en-US/products/microphones/wh20
https://www.shure.com/en-US/products/accessories/a85f

B. 'Shure WH20QTR Dynamic Headset Microphone'

Not sure you were paying attention :? . He did not ask for a headphone recommendation, but rather a headset recommendation with a dynamic microphone. Those are two different things altogether. There is no need at for Dolby/DTS 7.1 surround sound, as the outputs of the MODX do not provide a Dolby/DTS 7.1 signal. (he didn't say anything about audio monitoring in the first place) The G430 microphone is of the electret condenser type, which is the opposite of what you want for a vocoder application ... a dynamic condenser.

The Logitech g430 is no doubt an excellent consumer-level gamers tool, but it's not really well suited for this application.

I know you are trying to be friendly and helpful, but this advice would have sent the OP in exactly the wrong direction, with lots of attendant frustration.

A. [snipped, cuz "no", lol]

B. 'Shure WH20QTR Dynamic Headset Microphone'

"B" is your better choice. The input of the MODX is a simple 1/4-inch TR jack, and the connector provided with "B" is what you need.

For most applications/people's needs you are most likely correct.

I realize this may be overkill, but for the sake of an extra $20, I am probably going to go with option "A" myself, as the A85F - Line Matching Transformer converts it to a 1/4-inch TR jack and it should give a bit better input signal/level. :ugeek:
