Just heard that purgatorycreek.com will be launching a great collection of Vintage electo-mechanical instruments for the MODX some time next January.
You can check out the sounds on the site as they are up there for the Kurz Forte and Kontact etc.
The owner /programer posts as burningbusch on the Keyboard Forum and he writes;
"Here's what I know so far and you can pass this along:
I'm trying to work within the size constraints of the MODX. I will assume people will want to load the Bose or maybe Chick's Mark V (if you load both there's really nothing left). A the moment filesize is around 550MB.
I expect I'll make it available only as a collection. With the Forte, 99% of the sales are the collection.
Will include:
Mark I (1975)
Mark V (1985)
Wurlitzer 200a
Wurlitzer 140b
Clavinet D6 (pickups DB, CA, CB (eliminated DA to save space as it's rarely used)
Pianet N
CP70B
Some have no loops at all. When I've implemented the loops I've tried to push them as far down into the decay as possible (some are over 10 seconds before the loop). Most have release samples.
I expect the intro pricing to be ~$49USD.
Busch."
Will bump this thread in Jan

Re: New Vintage Instruments coming soon for MODX!
I wrote on FB, but I'll repeat here...they are ok, but nothing outstanding and certainly nothing that couldn't be achieved on the existing MODX sample set with a little tweaking. If they were free??? Nah I still wouldn't want em!
Re: New Vintage Instruments coming soon for MODX!
So Pax - did you buy them and PLAY them or are you going on what the demos sounded like to your ears?
I thought the Rhodes patches would be worth it alone - if they have character and PLAY without any noticeable velocity jumps which the on-board examples do have.
If Yamaha had put the Rhodes sample from the aged P120 piano (but with smooth layer transisions) in the MODX i would be happy.
I have yet to play the Purgatory Creek sound set myself.

Having more sounds is not a bad thing, but doesn't the Montage/MODX already have good electro-mechanical instruments patches?
