Is there a simple Foot Switch that can be used to Change Scenes on Modx?
Looking for something that would allow me to step up or down the scenes with a simple foot switch that does not take-up a of space. I already have control pedals for volume and sustain.
thanks

Hi
Assuming the MODX scenes are like the Montage, then I think the only thing you can do is send a MIDI CC to change them, so you cannot do it via a simple Foot switch. Maybe an idea for Yamaha's Ideascale.

If they can be changed from MIDI CC, there are footswitch devices that you can use to send MIDI CC. One Control Basilisk and Behringer FCB1010 would be possibilities (except the Behringer is huge). Or maybe plain "sustain pedal" foot switches plugged into the Audiofront MIDI Expression I/O.

Or a Roland FC300. Only problem is the Yamaha implementation does not allow simple stepping per se. It divides the CC range of 128 steps of your selecting CC by 8, so 0-15 selects Scene 1, 16-23 selects Scene 2, etc. So, you could program a MIDI Foot switch so a bank of switches are selecting different CC valies and such scenes.
If you have a computer on stage and a Program like Cantabile (like I do) then it can listen to one CC and step through a set of CC values (would allow you select any in sequence, e.g. 1, 2, 3 2, 4, 5 etc) or a small MIDI controller as you suggest.
Or lobby Yamaha (via Ideascale) to put a scene step feature option in. Should not be difficult and eminently sensible for those that need it. I’m not so fussed myself as my combination of an FC300 and Cantabile allows me to do pretty much anything I need on a song by song basis.

I have been looking into this and the Nektar Pacer looks like a great option, slightly more expensive then FCB1010 but 1/3 the weight and has more pedals and more programming option.
Killer feature is you can cycle through upto 6 commands with one pedal so you could step up/down scenes, as well as the normal one pedal per scene.
Also send upto 16 commands when you change presets
Only disappointment is there is no pc programming utility, but you can backup/restore via sysex so some smart guy could definitely make one, I might do this if I have time.

Looks an interesting floor board, which I may check out some time, but my FC300 is still king for me!

If you already have FC300 this is unlikely to benefit you. But for someone who is yet to purchase you can get all the same feature's here for less then half the price. With the additional expandability.
Nektar really need to work on there marketing, 2 days of googling FCB1010 alternatives until I stumbled on this by accident, and labeling it a DAW controller makes no sense it's just a MIDI controller, and labeling it like that makes keyboard/guitar players overlook it when it has some killer features.

Not cheap, but built like a tank. Mine is 10 years old, and going strong.

I may still check it out for additional controller capabilities as I have three foot switches attached to the FC300, so it might be a nice companion. I also noticed that you can use it with a Helix as well. So will definitely be checking it out.josephdouce wrote: ↑Sun Jan 20, 2019 8:26 amIf you already have FC300 this is unlikely to benefit you. You're right that some companies do themselves no favours. I have been searching for years for an alternative to Steinberg's virtual bass module and never found anything. I stumbled across UJAM last night, and they have never come up in searches.

Manual here since they don't post it on there site foe some unknown reason, better describes the full capabilities.
