The CP88 action is about the same as the CP4 one (NW-GH3) but what about that “new” CP73 action? A further GHE development?
Edit: I see it’s called BHS for Balanced Hammer Standard. Sure hope it’s better than their basic GHS (Graded Hammer Standard) action.
Edit 2: Also would like to know the specs on the internal memory size.

The metal joysticks also remind me of Studiologic's SL88 and Numa.

No escapement on the CP88?
And no sympathetic resonance?

According to Blake Angelos, it's the same keybed as on the Montage, but without aftertouch.

Yeah, I have heard the same about Nord. Personally, I don't love Nords, but I don't dislike them either. Not a big fan of the key-beds and I think the high-end Yamaha's, Roland's, and Kawai's take the cake for me if i'm not using a MIDI controller.
There are some great digital pianos currently out there that I think are just better than Nord in every way. Since MIDI controllers can do so much, I pretty much look at the way the keys feel and play over anything else.
I think the Yamaha CP88 is a great product and I can't wait to purchase it. I'm surprised there's no aftertouch available.

Do you have a source for this? Like a game of telephone, it's easy for repeated information to change, and I haven't seen any reliable foundation for this. It is at least similar to the Montage in being balanced rather than graded, but BHS implies some other change. BHE (the Montage 8 action) has already been available without aftertouch in the MO8 (at least), and it's still called BHE there.

I was talking to Luke Juby about the keys on the CP-73 and he said they were balanced hammer action, not wooden keys like on the CP-88 but still felt great to play. Unfortunately me and Chris (Parametric) could only test the CP-88 at Yamaha last week as the CP-73 was not available.

Well... Actually, Blake Angelos and Dom Sigalas use words as "similar feel" and "basically the same as the Montage". So no one explicitly says it's identical.anotherscott wrote: ↑Mon Feb 11, 2019 7:06 pmDo you have a source for this?
