GEM 3.5" disks

Unread post by KJX Barry Warne »

what are people doing for 3.5" disks for these older GEM keyboards?

I noticed that some of the ones I have (various brands) don't seem to work in the S3. Seems this might be a fussy drive. Any tips?

Hi Barry,

I guess your floppy drive works ok atm?

Does the GEM have a generic DD (720k) Drive - or the later HD version that can use 1.44Mb Disks?

As you have doubtless read in here, Floppy Drives do deteriorate with age. The belt driven ones especially . . . .

I DID spot this while browsing, which may be of interest at some point

In the end I found that certain brands work and certain brands do not.

I bought a few (through Social Distancing sales) via craigslist and have been backing up.

KAO seem to work. As does another brand. Can't remember but if you need to know, shoot me a DM.
