Connecting Gem RP-X to a PC

Unread post by mf_blues » Wed Jun 23, 2010 10:16 pm

Hello Everyone

Well I got me the Gem RP-X and I am fairly happy with it, however I would like to connect it to my PC but using the provided software didn't work, I installed Mumbo and the RP-X Editor software but can't get anything working.

I have read that I need the Gem midi driver but I can't find it anywhere, would any of you nice folks happen to have a copy you could send me.

Thanks

Mart :(

Hi Mart,

have you succeeded in your attempts to get the RP-X editors working? I found an RP-X listed for sale some time ago and was thinking about it, as I didn't find any amazing piano sound yet in a synth... Perfect Piano from Ensoniq/E-mu is usable, but it's not the best one I've ever heard. I hate sample-based monster pianos, as I don't want to use a PC for playing. So, acoustic modelling seemed like a solution for me. Could you elaborate a bit on the sound and editing capabilitites of RP-X?

Thanks,
Cheers,
Bruno

Only recently found the installer, so I'm going to try soon. Will get back with some info as soon as I try it.

Just a quickie - don't waste your time with GEM Mumbo (Jumbo). The RP-X editor can happily work with any MIDI interface you have (I use my Unitor8 and it's OK).
