Could this have happened in a guitar case with the guitar resting on the cable over a longer period ??

Sadly - this is true - but only with certain Types of Plastic materials.

AT the Uni I worked at once we had a flight case with that foam cutout material inside to "fit" the Gear . . .

Someone stashed a pile of twenty brand-new canon-canon leads in there - still had their zip-ties on . . .

Some months later, it was opened, and all the leads were STICKY - and I mean Sticky!

Had to chuck the lot out . . . . (We had to re-line the Flight-case too . . . . messy . . . .

Plus - If you've ever noticed the inside of your windscreen has become difficult to clean properly?

It's the same deal. Sunshine and Heat helps to leach out the binders in the PLASTIC Dashboard - and it deposits on the screen.

So beware mixing different plastics in close proximity . . .

What I hate with these things it's that'it is unpredictable, especially with guitar stands.

BTW, I've seen horrible things with guitars that have been stored in cases with cut out foam. So that's predictable: don't ever do that 8) .

I check my guitars I think once a year. I have some on mounts hanging on the wall and some on guitar stands. I use K&M for my single stands and hangers. Never saw any damage. As a Yamaha collector I dont think any of my guitars has a nitro finish, but the one nitro guitar I have stays OK on K&M stands.

Always used Rockstand for my multiple stands. I have about 4 or 5 I think. Used them for years, never any problem. Bought one some time ago, had some acoustics on it for a few months, and some show laquer damage, also the poly finished :? .

I think only a few kinds of lacquer is used on guitars. Why is it so difficult to make stands where they guarantee there is no damage over time?

Hi. New here, and searching for info on these lovely guitars brought me here.
I have just acquired a green one of these like the OP has, although i haven't picked it up yet. It looks in great condition, but it is missing the original tuners. Someone has put open gear ones, and maybe they'll be ok, I'm not sure, but will try them before thinking about changing them.
Are there any similar type/shape tuners available?
I have been a guitar tech for a few years and never seen any like them..
Thanks.

Hi. Got the SA50, and keen to show some photos, although the lighting isn't great..
The guitar has no baffles, and replacement tuners (it had individual open gear classical type tuners on it, which I've replaced for now with some vintage type tulip ones, in snot green, kind of match now..

Congrats, I have photos of your guitar when it was for sale in March 2016. It showed the original whammy bar and tuners. The latter were very corroded though and were missing two cover caps.
