Want to buy a Pacifica

Unread post by balston11 » Thu Nov 08, 2018 2:02 pm

This must be the most ridiculous ebay auction for a Pacifica ever
see https://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/710-5348 ... olid=20008

The guitar is worth about £80 the signatures maybe £100 and he advertises that he bought from guitar auctions where their records show he paid £120 for it. Now been listed for about 2 months strangely no bids.

Had it been a guitar owned and played by Brad Delson it might have been worth a bit more but of course he has never to my knowledge played a Yamaha let alone a cheap Pacifica like the one for sale.

Obviously an opportunist cheap guitar buy with the sole intention of getting it signed to increase it's value.

I seen a lot of cheap signed strat clones people churn out on ebay, I saw a episode of Pawn Stars of a guy trying to sell one signed by Chuck Berry (when he was still alive) for a absurd amount and rightfully rejected.

I rather use the money on the Pacifia 1412 than junk memorabilia.

I took a look at reverb, and searched "autograph+guitar"

Quite a few came up, one of them is 7000$ us for a Van Halen signed guitar.

Hi Peter
I am sure prices would be quite different if you could search ones which had actually sold.

Looks like he is just selling the autograph and effectively the guitar is the paper. No idea on value of the autograph.

I think it is common practice to use inexpensive models for give aways etc, so. Squire not a Strat gets signed. Go search for places that handle authentic rock memorabilia.

Not my thing, but I do have the opposite of that one

I bought a very high end Navigator (for the guitar) signed by a Japanese rock star. You all know the group The Alfee right!! Yeah, me too.

Well, guitar was basically unplayed and signed in Sharpee when it was made. Price was very attractive (for the guitar) so I figured would be easy enough to get rid of the graffiti ( I mean autograph ) with some polishing compound..

Well, best laid plans as they say, when I got it the signature was clear coated to preserve it. Those wily The Alfee fans!. Worse yet, clearcoat is poly and guitar is very thin lacquer.

Killer guitar with 4A flame top - and THE autograph.
At some point will take to luthier to assess sanding the clear, see how steady his nerves are, unless of course someone here is a huge Alfee fan....

While I'm a Linkin Park fan, paying for autographs isn't the same to me as if I met them and got their autographs personally. I own several signature model guitars for one reason or another and that is good enough for me.
