Just joined, total noob beginner player here

Unread post by Faintestidea » Mon Feb 25, 2019 6:42 pm

Hey there! As the subject states, total noob beginner here. My local guitar center has a yamaha Pacifica in stock currently. Not sure of the stock number or anything but I know its 100 dollars. My questions are 1. Are there any stock numbers I should avoid as in that model being know to suck etc, and 2. For the pickups instead of having common ones it has ones that look like 2 super thin bars if that makes any sense. Thanks for anyone that helps me out

My guess is a Pacifica 012 which is( or was) entry level Pacifica. I have never personally owned one but should be OK for beginner. If you know someone who plays have them go along with you. The thin bars are single coil pickups.
Go on Youtube and spend a couple hours searching beginner guitar videos. It can be frustrating at the beginning because your fingers have to do some things they are not used to doing but if you really want to learn you just gotta push through it.

Welcome to the forum. The Pacifica will be about as good as you can get for that sort of money and if you decide as you improve you want to upgrade you won't have lost a fortune when you sell it.
Good luck and remember what seems impossible at first becomes easy with practice.

Welcome to the forum and the string section. :D

For 100 bucks you can hardly go wrong.
If you can't play yet, or don't have much experience with guitars, bring a friend who can test for you.
Even the low end Pacificas usually give you pretty good value for your money.
Once you are familiar with the guitar, you may want to have it set up to fit you.

Best Regards
Peter
