Yamaha SC300T

Unread post by Asmikace » Wed Apr 24, 2019 2:17 am

I manage to get out of work early due to rain and check out the area's pawn shops. For the first time ever, I managed to score a Yamaha without using the internet. A pawn shop had a SC300T with a hardshell case for just $130. It has some dings here and there but nothing hideous, especially on the cheaper ones I saw online. I pretty much bought it for that price, only to haggle for a free replacement tremolo arm. After cleaning it and restringing it, I ending up trimming the b string too short so it has only 5 strings till I get time to head to Guitar Center for just one string.

For just 5 strings, the guitar is a blast to play. It has good weight and the build quality is excellent, something you would expect on a $500 guitar. Pickups are alright but the magic of the guitar is you can swap with even better ones. Even though its not as interesting as the SGV, its still a sweet guitar. Also scored a Fender Pugilist for $50 at other pawn shop as well. So many tone options I have yet to get a full understanding of it.

Also I got something coming in Thursday to show off as well. I never hit gold with so many pawn shops before.

Great score we just don't seem to get Pawn shops or the like with guitars in the UK. The SC300T is very rare over here anyway.

That's a lovely looking guitar. Congrats ((i))

I was looking around some second hand shops yesterday and not a guitar in sight.

The only guitars I have seen in the past have been the usual firewood candidates from Encore and various no name brands you would not want to go anywhere near.

Population and market in the UK is just not large enough. There are sometimes a few bargains on Ebay but normally "collection only" so you need to be in relatively short driving distance to make it worthwhile.

Great find at a nice price. No pawn shops around here so I'm safe from that source. Sounds like you travel a lot for work so get to check out more pawns than the average person. Looking forward to your next find.

Great guitar indeed. Have a SC400, couldn't get used to the neck. I think I'll pick her up agian one of the next days. See if I still feel the same about that neck.

No pawn shops overhere in the Netherlands. Too bad. :?
