Yamaha Pacifica 912j

Unread post by Asmikace »

Here is the other surprise, my Pacifica 912J. A month or so ago I acquired a nice Yamaha strat hardshell case for $40 and wanted to fill it with a guitar. I been eying on some Pacifica 912s with no case or tremolo arm but saw a 912j with a case and arm for a better deal. We exchange offers to get a reasonable deal and got it yesterday. Great guitar as always. The RM2 tremolo is nice, nice body shape and weight, and roaring dimarzios making it a great guitar. My favorite is the finish, love that honey natural grain.

Again, great guitar ((i))

With this tempo of finding great guitars I'm curious how much Yamaha's you've gathered till now ....... 8-) ?

And believe me..... I'm tempted a lot by great modern Yamaha guitars. But as a vintage Yamaha collector I feel I have to let them go...... and sometimes that hurts :?

So you bought a case and that was an excuse for buying another guitar. That's one I haven't used yet.
Nice axe and I agree that the natural finish is sweet.

I am afraid to count. I usually buy guitars with my overtime money with per diem with little overhead and when I do get off, I do sell guitars and other stuff I find to make extra money on my off time. To be honest, I only buy guitars if I can get my money back or make extra money if possible. For a $1500-2000 Gibson, I can buy 3-6 Yamaha of similar quality.

NYGeorge, if I am going to if I can get lucky again at a pawn shop to finally stuff that case.

I recommend getting a 912 for a better price and a standard tremolo. I was learning towards it since i was worried with dealing with another locking tremolo especially with the RM 1 on my Image. The RM2 is a much better improvment and had no problems with the tuning after getting it set up.

No matter what 900 level pacifica you get, its still going to be a great guitar.

Sorry to resurrect an old thread. I would like to know what the neck dimensions are for the 912J; radius and nut width?

Hi Boomy, welcome to the forum and the string section. :D

No topics get too old to keep alive on this forum.
Any new additions or questions are welcome.

With a bit of luck, you'll have an answer soon.

Best Regards
Peter

I was beaten to it.

Boomy, do you have a 912J or looking to get one? Mine is one of my favorite guitars and now someone near me selling a 904 I got to try out. You can't go wrong with the guitars.

I'm looking at getting one. But I will admit those nut/dimensions are turning me off a bit. What I was attracted to was a form factor to the neck and body that matched the "normal" pacifica range (112, 311, 611, 612 etc); which all have a 41mm nut. You wouldn't think 2mm matters, but I get so much more thumb hookage on the 41mm nut necks.

The 904 models have a 41mm nut perhaps that would suit you if you can find one.

I know a guy near me selling a 904 for 500$ but some parts been changed but has that neck. I would totally buy and ship to you but live in the UK and I dont think you want to pay for shipping.
