Yamaha G50 II

Unread post by Asmikace » Thu May 23, 2019 2:18 pm

Since that YTA 45 was too pricey to ship and the G5 got shipped to my house and not where I was staying, I got found a really nice G50 II for a good price. I was playing a G30 at a Guitar Center and was liking it but when I compared it to the prices and reviews for the G50 II, the G50 was a better deal.

Other than the scuffs over the years its in great shape. It does the cleans warmly and great with pedals which is good since the distortion and gain is lacking. The only thing its missing is one of the origninal knobs and the footswitch which shouldn't be to pricey to get. I might replace the speaker as well since the reviews say it makes a difference. I can see why this considered a sleeper amp.

HNAD, you've got your hands on one of the great ones: the II series.

I had one some years ago, and later the 100-212 version.
Finally, I scored the 100watt head and sold the two combos.

The parametric equalizer is an important gadget to get the tone just right.

Still loving the amp, I also upgraded a Fender Santa Ana Overdrive to pair with the distortion and gives the amp that nice tube overdrive. I am going have have to replace the crackling speaker. There is a Celestion G12H in town for $70 I might pick to swap it but does anyone have any recommendations?

Nice amp, do you know what the difference is with the F50 amp?

You know I seen some pictures of the F50 amp and they look the same. The only one I saw on a website was on Reverb for a Japanese store, so the best guess is that it was the branding for the Japanese market.

Yep, same amps, but for the Japanese domestic market.
