Yamaha SG2000 Truss Rod Adjustment Tool?

Unread post by Pixie-Bob »

I've just removed the truss rod cover from my 2005 SG2000 to make an adjustment and was expecting to find a nut that could be adjusted with a socket wrench (as on Les Pauls and vintage Yamaha SGs). What I found was this (pictured below). I've tried all the fender-style wrenches that will fit into the hole, but none of them gain any purchase on the rod. Does anyone know precisely what tool is required to do the job?

Hi David.

I truly hope that your truss rod isn't broken.

Usually a 8mm. socket wrench is used.

Please look at this post showing the usual 8mm. nut: viewtopic.php?f=24&t=10877

Regards
Peter

Thanks for the link Peter. Yes, I'm hoping that also.

Problem solved. A 4mm wrench did the trick. So at some point, Yamaha changed the design.
