Yamaha EG112 conversion to baritone?

Unread post by littlebadboy »

I am thinking of converting my Yamaha EG112C2 into a baritone. Anybody knows if a Fender Strat baritone neck will fit on the Yamaha EG112 body?

I have no idea if you can squeeze a Fender neck in, but how about just getting a finisked baritone guitar ?
Here are some Yamaha baritone guitars worth another look: viewtopic.php?f=24&t=7847 :music-guitarred:

I know that you've built some cool guitar mods,
if you decide to make your own baritone, let us see the result. (Y)

It is a bolt on neck making life easier. The only way to be sure is to take off the existing neck and carefully measure the pocket in all dimensions. Some pockets are slightly off square so you cannot be sure without the neck off. I do not expect that you will have a big choice of necks for baritones so you may have to take oversize and sand it to fit. In any case you may have to sand it for an ideal fit.

Good luck. sounds like an interesting project.

Edit. Just thinking a bit more deeply about the whole project. The set up of neck relief etc must be different for a baritone. How is the bridge (trem?) for scope for string height adjustment?
