Yamaha VR3000, ANY INFO?

Unread post by czech-one-2 »

Hi, In another thread I posted about my love for my Yamaha G100II 2x12 amp. I am searching for a 1x12, lighter combo with the same features [and more importantly, tone!] and stumbled across a VR3000 amp. Are these as well made as the II series or are they a cheaper, econo version. It has the parametric eq and reverb, but I'd like to know if they sound similar to the II series? Any info appreciated! :-)

Thanks Peter! I wonder what the difference was between the VR3000, VR4000 AND VR6000?

VR3000 and VR5000 are single speaker mono, VR4000 and VR6000 are twin speaker stereo.

Manual for VR3000 and VR5000.

Manual for VR4000 and VR6000.

Unfortunately, I have no hands on experience with those models yet. :?

I did find a gut shot image of a VR 5000 and its chocked full of ribbon cables. Probably not nearly as nice of a build quality as the G II series amps.

Ribbon cables are used on most modern amps. (much more advanced circuitry)
The trusty old point to point hand wired tech just isn't done much anymore. :?
I guess it's too costly, and difficult in production lines.
